'I will hunt you down, I will kill you': Claire Danes' Carrie Mathison tackles presidential corruption in season 7 trailer for Homeland

Season 7 of Homeland will premiere February 11, Showtime confirmed Tuesday.

The network treated fans to a glimpse at the action set to take place in the next installment of the popular spy thriller with the first trailer which has just dropped.

The action-packed clip shows Claire Danes, 38, as former CIA agent Carrie Mathison ready to take down a corrupt administration.

The show picks up after an assassination attempt was made against President-elect Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth marvel) at the end of the last season.

Keane has broken her promise to Carrie by arresting 200 member of the intelligence community without bringing charges against them including Carrie's friend/sometimes nemesis Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

The new season shows Carrie - who has left her job at the White House and is living with her sister Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) in D.C. - attempting to secure the release of the 200.

In an interesting twist Saul, who had been detained and was in prison, somehow ends up in a prominent role in the White House.

Saul appears on TV alongside the president and introduced as National Security Adviser under Keane, much to the dismay of Carrie.

Also in the trailer, an alt-right media personality conspiracy theorist played by Brett O'Keefe, who clearly has it in for the president, appears to be bringing together some kind of rural militia.

The final scene of the trailer shows a furious Carrie leaning over someone (not shown in the frame) and threatening: 'I will hunt you down, I will kill you'. 

Homeland Season 7 premieres Sunday, February 11 at 9 PM on Showtime.
