Police searching for a student who walked home from a nightclub wearing just jeans and T-shirt when the temperature plunged to minus two have recovered a body.

Ian Tang, 20, was not wearing a coat or jumper when he left Club KA in North Walsham, Norfolk, between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday.

The Norwich City College student is said to have been offered a lift home, but said that he would walk back alone.

The alarm was raised when he failed to arrive back at his home in North Walsham and a body has now been found around two miles away from the club.

Around 200 people along with firefighters and a local lowland rescue team gathered outside North Walsham police station at 10am on Tuesday to search for him.

Others distributed posters appealing for information about the disappearance of the 5ft 8ins tall student who had a tattoo of a woman's face on his left arm.

A body was found at 11am on Tuesday by a member of the search party near the village of Swafield, two miles north of North Walsham.

Chief Inspector Wes Hornigold, of Norfolk Police, said he believed it was the body of Ian, but formal identification still had to take place.

He added: 'The death is not being treated as suspicious, but investigations are continuing into the circumstances.'
