But Perrie Edwards proved she and boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are stronger than ever on Tuesday, as she shared a smitten Instagram snap of her kissing him.

The Little Mix star, 24, beamed as she reunited with her sportsman beau and dubbed him her 'squishy' in a sweet Finding Nemo-inspired caption.

Quoting word for word the moment cartoon fish Dory found a jellyfish, Perrie wrote: 'I shall call him SQUISHY and he shall be MINE and he shall be MY squishy!'

The blonde beauty looked ecstatic to be reunited with her boyfriend, placing both hands on his face as she kissed his cheek.

Fans went wild over the sweet snap, with one user dubbing them 'the cutest couple in the world,' while another added: 'It makes me so happy that you are happy.'

Perrie has been dating sports star Alex since November 2016 and while the duo remained coy about their romance at first, they are now often seen documenting their relationship on social media.

So much so, that Perrie, who was previously engaged to Zayn Malik before he called off their four year relationship in 2015, was seen pining after her man while away touring with Little Mix.

Alongside a picture of herself and Alex kissing, she penned: 'Apologies for this extra af (as f**k), cheese on toast post.... But s**t I miss him toooo much! @alexoxchamberlain.'

Since then their relationship has only gone from strength to strength, but the couple were forced to take their love affair long-distance, as Alex has recently moved football clubs to Liverpool FC and relocated to the city.

Not fazed by the change, however, Perrie has insisted she is 'very proud' of her boyfriend.

She told The Mirror: 'I don’t think it will be difficult. It’s going to be different – but that’s not a problem. We’ll be fine. I’m just really happy for him and very proud.'

The candid confession comes after worried fans speculated that they had split after spotting their silence on social media.

The normally active couple have refrained from posting any loved-up snaps together for several weeks - amid reports their romance is under strain following footballer Alex's £35million move to Liverpool FC this week.

The Touch hitmaker has also been targeted by cruel trolls who branded her a 'f**king b***h' and claimed she 'persuaded' him to move to the city.
