'I had a self-imposed exile': Nineties' favourite Ulrika Jonsson, 50, admits she 'fell out of love with TV'... as she joins lookalike daughter Bo, 16, outside ITV studios in London

She was one of the most famous faces on Nineties television.

Yet Ulrika Jonsson admitted as time wore on from her heyday, she began to fall out of love with life on the small-screen as she admitted on Tuesday's episode of This Morning that she withdrew from work as she was not being given the jobs she would like.

The 50-year-old Gladiators presenter headed into the ITV studios alongside her lookalike daughter Bo, 16, before her appearance on the show where she confessed to being ready to return to TV after her break.

Ulrika soared to fame on now-defunct ITV breakfast show TV-am, where she starred as a weather girl before going on to become a TV hit on shows including Gladiators, The National Lottery, Miss World and the Eurovision Song Contest.

While her professional life was reaching glimmering heights over the years, her personal life also became a headline hitter with her shocking affair with Sven-Göran Eriksson and her tumultuous romance with footballer Stan Collymore.

The stunning star's TV career, which also included appearances of Come Dine With Me, Dancing On Ice and Fame Academy, began to quieted down as of 2010, when she starred on and won Celebrity Big Brother - yet she has now revealed the reasons.

Speaking on the show, she said: 'These days everybody's a star. I had a self-imposed exile. I also wasn't being offered the sort of work I wanted to do.

'It's different now. I have to say I absolutely love the trashy shows that we all switch off to and I've been in reality TV. I would certainly not be against doing more TV'.

Ulrika is currently starring on Celebrity Masterchef, which she admits is an incredibly nerve-wracking experience: 'I was probably the most nervous I've ever been on Celebrity Masterchef.

'I was so nervous I couldn't see the huge box they gave me with all the ingredients. When Gregg Wallace comes and talks to you, he takes three minutes of your time.'

She admits she made her children, including Cameron Oskar George Turnbull, 23, Martha Sky Hope Gerrard-Wright, 13, Malcolm Monet, nine alongside Bo, try her recipes endlessly much to their chagrin.

Nervous Ulrika said: 'I made my children have [my recipes] three, four, five six seven times until my oldest girl was begging for cheese on toast. I tried to introduce a little bit of Swedish food.'
