'The hole in my heart has yet to heal': Alan Thicke's widow and son pay tribute to late actor on one year anniversary of his death at age 69

The family of Alan Thicke have paid tribute to the late actor on the one year anniversary of his death.

Thicke died suddenly at the age of 69 of a ruptured aorta on December 13, 2016.

His widow Tanya Thicke, 42, posted a sweet photo of herself and her husband on their ranch, along with the moving message: 'It's been 1 year today – how I miss my best friend, husband, best companion in all things.

'The hole in my heart has yet to heal, but I know you are still with me,' she continued.

'I can't wait to see the path god has planned for me,' Tanya continued. 'One day we will be reunited. I love you H ~always & forever , W.'

Thicke's son Carter, 20, posted a photo of himself as a toddler being held by his father.  

He captioned the loving photo: 'Some days it feels like it was only yesterday and other days it feels like its been years.'

'Nothing can really describe the loss, but I feel you here everyday in my life. I miss my best friend and partner in crime. I love you Pops,' he added.

In October, Tanya told Access Hollywood about her last interaction with the Canadian actor before he died.

'We spoke that morning. He woke up that morning and kissed my leg. He used to kiss whatever body part was sticking out of the sheets,' Tanya told show hosts Kit Hoover and Natalie Morales while giving a tour of the home she shared with Alan

Tanya said she got a phone call a short time later from the Growing Pains star.

'I got a phone call from him from the hockey rink. He's there dressing up, getting ready to play hockey, and he's like, ''Honey, I'll be home between six and seven. How about some chicken tonight with extra gravy and lots of TV and a little sex?,'' Tanya revealed. 

'I was like, ''Deal! I'll see you at six'',' Tanya recalled telling Alan.

'So I started preparing to go to the market and then I get the phone call that something's wrong with Alan, that I had to drive down to L.A.,' she continued.

Tanya said she was met by a 'spiritual guidance person with a Bible' and immediately knew something was 'really, really wrong'.

'When I saw her standing there, my heart sank and I remember dropping my water bottle and my heart sank to my stomach,' Tanya said.

'The doctors, they were explaining what happened to him and I'm listening and he said, ''I'm sorry to tell you Mrs. Thicke, but your husband has expired.'' And I was like, ''What?!'',' Tanya shared.

The former actress and model said she lost her will to live after Alan's death.

'I'm ashamed to admit it, but at one point I didn't want to live — I really didn't,' she said.

'And if I didn't have my family and my friends to listen to me and to hold my hand and to give me the love, the nurturing that I needed, I wouldn't be standing here in front of you right now,' Tanya said.

The second part of Tanya's interview with Access Hollywood will air on Friday.

Alan met Tanya in 1993 when she was age 23 in Miami and they married in May 2005 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Tanya told Access Hollywood that she and Alan were planning on having a baby together and planned on calling their daughter Charlotte.

Alan had sons Brennan, 42, and Robin, 40, with his first wife actress Gloria Loring.

He also had a 20-year-old son Carter with his second wife beauty queen Gina Tolleson.

Alan was formerly engaged to actress Kristy Swanson, 47, who he started dating when she was 17 in 1986.

The Ontario native is best known for his role of father Jason Seaver on the ABC sitcom Growing Pains that aired from 1985 to 1992.
