In May, Olivia Newton-John revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time.

And with the illness metastasizing to her spine, the Australian icon was left in agonising pain.

On Friday, however, the 69-year-old star spoke with the Today Show, telling presenter Richard 'Dickie' Wilkins that medical cannabis has 'helped' to eliminate the discomfort she found herself in.

Olivia is a proponent of medical marijuana, and once again spruiked its benefits in a live cross with the program from her adopted city of Los Angeles

'I take a lot of natural herbs and healing remedies and also medicinal cannabis that's helped me a lot,' the Grease star replied after being asked by Dickie about the methods she uses to feel better.

'Initially I had a lot of pain. I don't have pain now,' she added.

The superstar also gushed over her husband, John Easterling, an importer of Amazonian herbal medicine.

She told Dickie: 'I'm so lucky. I'm married to an amazing man who is a plant medicine expert'.

Meanwhile, an upbeat Olivia also dished details on her upcoming Christmas plans, stating she and John spend the season with daughter Chloe Lattanzi, who, coincidentally, is a marijuana farmer.

She also also revealed that Chloe's fiance James Driskill would be joining them for the holidays.

'Is he still the fiancé ? There are reports he has been upgraded to husband,' Dickie probed.'

'Still fiancé,'' Olivia replied, adding:  'I think next year they will get married. I hope they will. If they don't, that's fine and whatever they want. But I think they might do it.'
