KATIE Price has been hit with legal action after hinting that her ex-husband Peter Andre cheated on her.
The former glamour model compared the end of their marriage to BBC drama Doctor Foster that sees a woman get revenge on her cheating husband.
There has never been any suggestion that Pete cheated on Katie and The Sun Online can exclusively reveal he has contacted his lawyers about it.
A source told us: “Peter didn’t cheat on Katie and wasn’t happy when she suggested he had during her tour.
“After her comments were made public, Pete got his lawyers involved and Katie was issued with a legal letter.
"That’s the real reason she tweeted to say sorry.
"Pete never cheated on Katie. He never speaks about her and can’t understand why she just won’t leave him alone.
"She always brings him, or their marriage, up and he just wishes she would stop.”
Katie married Pete in 2005 after a whirlwind romance following their meeting on I’m A Celebrity and they split in 2009, much to Katie’s dismay.
Speaking during her one-woman show in Swindon, Katie, who crudely told the audience ‘Once you've gone Greek, you've reached your peak’, said: “I never wanted it to end. It was all him.”
And when asked by an audience member if she stalked Pete on Twitter she gave a very cryptic response – hinting at him being unfaithful.
She told them: “I don't stalk anyone. Have you seen Dr Foster? That's the answer to that question. Use your brain if you know what I'm trying to say ...”
Doctor Foster is a fictional ITV drama about a woman, Dr Gemma Foster, who discovers her husband, Simon, is having an affair with a much younger woman, called Kate.
When she discovers Kate is pregnant, Gemma sets out to get her revenge on her lying ex that results in a violent confrontation between the couple.
However, the day after the show, she tweeted to say she was sorry for making the unfair comparison.
She wrote: "I did not ever say in any words from my mouth on my tour to suggest Pete cheated on me as everyone knows he never did. Sorry."
There is no suggestion that Peter ever cheated on Katie during their relationship and Katie has previously never referred to any infidelity on his part.
She has however said they split because he thought she was having an affair – but Pete, who is father to Princess and Junior, has denied this was the reason.

Pete previously opened up about their split in a very candid interview on Piers Morgan Life Stories back in 2011.
"Katie said the reason I left her was because I’d seen pictures of her in nightclubs flirting with other men and presumed she’d cheated on me,” he said.
“That is not the truth. Those pictures were not the reason I left Katie. I would never end a marriage over something small, or little things building up.”
He continued: “Something big happened, which I won’t reveal as I don’t want my kids reading it. But when I tell them, I’ll come on your show and reveal what actually happened.
"Katie knows 100 per cent the reason why I left her and I am 100 per cent sure that what happened definitely did happen.”
Peter is now happily married to Emily MacDonagh, while Katie is currently estranged from her third husband Kieran Hayler.
