Rooney said: 'It's been really nice to come and try and put a few smiles on the kids' and their families' faces, especially around Christmas. It's always great if we can do that, meet them and hopefully make them smile.'
Rooney added: 'I've seen the work they do here, it's incredible, not just for the kids but the parents and the brothers and sisters too. They really do make a massive difference so it's important that I give my support and that we also keep trying to raise money because the work they do needs funding.'

MailOnline revealed how Rooney won confessed his misbehaviour in November.
Coleen agreed to a fresh start after a secret heart to heart in which Wayne promised there are 'no skeletons' in his closet after his drink drive arrest with party girl Laura Simpson.
Coleen, 31, was furious after the incident and told friends she was struggling to forgive Wayne.
But the couple had a clear-the-air weekend without their three sons at the Soho House Farmhouse in Oxfordshire and agreed to kick-start their marriage after Wayne repeatedly said sorry and told her he wanted to save his marriage.
Back together: Wayne Rooney has won his battle to save his marriage after confessing all about his behaviour to wife Coleen, MailOnline can reveal
The couple were pictured together for the first time with their three sons at a Nando's restaurant in Didsbury, Cheshire.
Wayne admitted he had 'been a fool' for being arrested while behind the wheel of a VW Beetle belonging to Ms Simpson, who claimed they had kissed.
Coleen was pictured not wearing her £500,000 wedding rings in a move that many saw as a public sign that she was furious with her husband.
But sources told MailOnline that the real reason she often ditches them is because they are so expensive and she fears being robbed.
They said despite forgiving Wayne she still won't wear them everyday.

The couple are also planning to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary next summer with family and friends.
Wayne, 32, has been doing community punishment by working at a local garden centre after his conviction for drink driving.
Forgiven: A source told MailOnline: 'The marriage is definitely back on and Wayne and Coleen will be seen out together again soon and in the run up to Christmas.' They said Coleen is often seen without her wedding rings (pictured) because she is worried about being mugged
