Virginia woman found mauled to death by her pit bulls

Bethany Lynn Stephens, 22, (left, center and right) was found dead in a 'grisly' scene on Thursday night, two days after she was last seen heading out to walk her dogs in the woods near her Goochland, Virginia home. Authorities said she was found by her father, John (inset), who was searching for her in an area where she was known to take the dogs out for walks. The dogs were said to be aggressively guarding her body when Stephens' father came across them. It's believed they had been bred for fighting. Initial medical examiner's reports indicated that Stephens had defensive wounds on her hands and arms. Her injuries also included puncture wounds in her skull. When deputies arrived to retrieve the dogs, it took them an hour to get them under control. They were eventually tranquilized and removed by animal control. Police say they are likely to be put down.

Canadian police probe  'suspicious' death of billionaire

Canadian police said they were investigating the mysterious deaths of Barry Sherman, founder of Canadian pharmaceutical firm Apotex Inc, and his wife, Honey, one of the nation's wealthiest couples whose bodies were found in their mansion on Friday. Police said they learned of the deaths after responding to a midday (1700 GMT) medical call at the Sherman's home in an affluent section of northeast Toronto. Two bodies covered in blankets were removed from the home and loaded into an unmarked van on Friday evening. 'The circumstances of their death appear suspicious and we are treating it that way,' said Constable David Hopkinson.

Five injured after Pennsylvania ski lift accident

The ski lift malfunctioned on Tussey Mountain near Boalsburg on Saturday afternoon as hundreds of snow sports enthusiasts descended on the slopes to make the most of fresh powder. The weight of it caused a domino effect which resulted in four being pushed together on the wire. It was a dramatic sight which sparked panic on the mountain and led the evacuation of the entire chairlift. Everyone who was on it when it malfunctioned had to be hoisted down by emergency services.

An Illinois man commandeered a casual afternoon of family game time in his effort to surprise his girlfriend with a marriage proposal. At least ten people were in the kitchen one evening, standing around a table during a card guessing game when the proposal took place. In the video, each of the players is instructed to hold a playing card up to their forehead by a man off camera. They each hold a card to their forehead to reveal a number or face card — except for one young blonde woman who has been given a special card, which is clearly visible when the videographer zooms in on her face. 'What the f*** does she have?' one person says, laughing, as others quickly join in once they read her card.

Ex-wife of slain NBA player Lorenzen Wright is arrested

Sherra Wright (top), the ex-wife of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright (above), has been arrested in California and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his 2010 death.Police arrested her on a fugitive from justice warrant, online records show. She had previously given police an account of seeing him ten days before his body was found - the last time he was reportedly seen before his death. The arrest comes after another man, Billy Turner 46, was also arrested and charged with murder. Turner was arrested on December 5 and his bail is set at $1million. He has not entered a plea. The 6-foot-11 Wright played for the Memphis Grizzlies and four other NBA teams as a forward and center over 13 seasons before retiring in 2009. Wright's body was found in a swampy field outside of Memphis on July 28, 2010.

Brodey Young (pictured right and main) was born on Tuesday morning on the Blueberry Ward at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. He weighed in at 12lb 130z - nearly the same as a bowling bowl, stunning midwives, doctors and his mother Sheralyn Wilcock (pictured left with partner Robert). Ms Wilcock said there were no abnormalities during her pregnancy that suggested Brodey would be so heavy, but explained that her other two children, Bailey Hemsley and Payton Young (pictured centre), were also larger than anticipated when they were born. The parents say they are just happy that Brodey, who measured 63cm when he was born, is healthy and has been delivered in time for Christmas.

For his 2017 Christmas card, John Cessna, 32, from Ann Arbor, Michigan, created a terrifying hostage scene in which he and his wife are tied up and surrounded by explosives after being kidnapped by 'ICE-ISS' -  the International Christmas Elves Independent Sovereign State. Cessna started staging unique holiday-themed Christmas cards in 2008 after his mother joked that he should 'sober up' and send out a card of his own. They have a long S-shaped neck and an orange bill with black at the base of it. The population in the UK has increased recently and the species can be found throughout Europe and Asia.

The big cat later roamed 600km away and attacked a woman as she went to the toilet at 5am. A team tracking the beast have said it is not afraid of humans and attracted to light. It does not hesitate to go through human settlements which is 'unusual' behaviour for a tiger.
