Bollywood star, 35, who could be one of Meghan Markle's bridesmaids is revealed to have 257,623 UNREAD emails (let's hope the royal wedding invite is sent in the post)

  • Priyanka Chopra's bulging inbox was revealed by American actor Alan Powell
  • The Indian actress is a friend of Meghan's and could be one of her bridesmaids
  • Some psychologists have suggested de-cluttering your inbox reduces stress

A friend of Meghan Markle has caused an online panic on a niche but fiercely debated subject: the number of unread emails in her inbox.

While some of us stress at the sight of a few hundred unread messages, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has outdone almost everyone with 257,623 emails sitting ignored or forgotten on her phone.

The Indian star, 35, was revealed as an email hoarder by American actor Alan Powell, who posted on Instagram with a picture of Chopra's smartphone, according to The Times.

He wrote: 'Guys... guys... don't ever email @priyankachopra... she apparently NEVER reads it! This is the record... I defy anyone to beat it.'

While social media users responded with screenshots of some of their own oversized inboxes, none could match the number of doomed messages on Chopra's phone.

One user called Sandeep Singh achieved a distinction with more than 20,000 emails in each of three separate email accounts.

Former Miss World Chopra first met the soon-to-be royal at a party in Toronto, Canada, where Meghan was filming Suits.

The pair have often shared pictures of each other on social media, for instance enjoying 'girl talk' by a poolside or drinking wine on a New York City rooftop.

When Meghan's engagement was announced the Baywatch star sent her congratulations on Instagram, saying: 'I'm so happy for you Meg! You deserve the best always... keep smiling that infectious smile.'

She also came to Meghan's defence in September, saying that an article about her in another publication had focused too much on Prince Harry rather than on her friend's own accomplishments.

The friendship has led to speculation that Chopra will be one of Meghan's bridesmaids when she marries Prince Harry in the spring.

Lifestyle guides often tout the so-called 'inbox zero' as a life goal, saying that de-cluttering your inbox will give you fewer things to deal with and make you feel less stressed.

Psychology author Ron Friedman said: 'The reason it can feel overwhelming to find lots of emails in your work inbox is that each message represents another demand on your time and another decision you have to make.

'Even deciphering a generic announcement about the office coffee maker requires effort, which leaves less energy for work that matters.'
