Power has been restored at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after an outage caused more than 1,200 flights to be cancelled. Passengers were left stranded on planes on the tarmac and in darkened terminals at the world's busiest airport following the blackout on Sunday. Even though power was finally restored at close to midnight Sunday, the incident continued to wreak havoc on holiday travel plans for thousands of people hit by airline cancellations extending into Monday.

On Sunday, the Ted Cruz (left) Republican senator from Texas traded barbs on Twitter with Mark Hamill (right), who has been outspoken in opposition to the FCC decision rolling back regulations on internet service providers. 'Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate,' Cruz lectured Hamill, referencing Yoda's classic advice in The Phantom Menace. The feud started with Hamill's rebuke of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, over a strange video Pai released touting all of the things consumers could still do on the internet following the repeal of so-called net neutrality.

No other Hollywood star has proved quite so brilliant at playing vulnerable, hugely sympathetic characters as Dustin Hoffman. Be it the nervous young college graduate snared by the rapacious older woman in The Graduate, the autistic savant in Rain Man or done up in drag and batting off the attentions of lecherous men in Tootsie, he rarely takes a role that doesn’t invite audiences to root for the ‘little guy’. Sadly, screen roles can be deceptive. Hoffman is now cast as a predatory monster, submerged under a stream of sordid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Jerry Richardson, the 81-year-old owner of the Charlotte, North Carolina team, said in an open letter on Sunday that he would put the team up for sale at the conclusion of this season. Richardson (with wife Sunday, main) came under scrutiny after a Sunday report documenting wide-ranging claims of workplace misconduct. At least four former Panthers employees have received 'significant' monetary settlements due to inappropriate workplace behavior by Richardson, according to the report. Former employees spoke of lewd remarks, lingering gazes and inappropriate touching, and at least one occasion of a racial slur directed against an African-American employee. In a statement, the team said it had opened its own investigation into the claims and 'welcome the involvement of the NFL'.

British actress and Ugly Betty star Ashley Jensen is mourning the death of her husband after he was suddenly found unconscious at home. Ms Jensen, 48, married actor and writer Terence Beesley in 2007 and an ambulance crew rushed to their home in Camerton, Somerset, following a desperate 999 call. Paramedics arrived 10 minutes after the alarm was raised and tried to save the 60-year-old but he was pronounced dead a short while later. The cause of his death is not known and an inquest will not finish until next year.

Israeli designer Inbal Dror, whose gowns are known for having the wow-factor of a red carpet dress, is believed to be in the running to design Meghan's dress for her big day next May. But the Daily Mail has identified nine different designers the Royal-to-be is most likely to select to create the perfect look for her special day (pictured). Victoria Beckham (second, top left), Alice Temperley (second, bottom right) and Elie Sabb (bottom right) are all in the mix. Buckingham Palace has so far refused to comment.

WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: A horrifying video caught on a bystander's dash cam shows a dog being dragged behind a car in Hawaii for at least two blocks. YouTube user Johnny Chang recorded the terrifying clip on Friday in Honolulu and posted it the same day. The dog can be seen at the end of short clip standing and walking on its own.

Two Navy airman flying over the Pacific Ocean on a routine training mission claim they encountered mysterious objects that 'accelerated like nothing' they had 'ever seen' before. Back in 2004, Navy Cmdr. David Fravor and Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jim Slaight were flying about 100 miles off the coast of San Diego in each of their F/A-18F Super Hornets when they encountered a mysterious object above the ocean. Hovering about 50 feet above the churn was an aircraft of some sort that was whitish, 40 feet long and oval in shape, Fravor recounted. He described to the Times that it was jumping erratically but not moving in any specific direction.

NEW Jimeta Sanders, 31, died on Wednesday in Middletown, Ohio while her husband was at work, and cops responding at the scene found her nine children, ages one to 14, alone with the body. The girls are 14, five, three and one. The boys are 13, 11, 10, six and two. Police detectives were touched by the tragedy, and put out a call to the community on Facebook for donations to assist the family.

The odd-looking dog was brought into an animal shelter in Chelyabinsk in south-central Russia's Cheliabinsk Oblast region and has baffled locals who say they have 'never seen anything like it before'. The stray dog, nicknamed Medvebaka from the Russian words for bear and dog, appears to have the body of a canine with a bear-like snout and ears. Nash Dom animal shelter released Images to the public in hopes that the animal's owner comes forward.

Madoka Takayama, 16, a student from Yamaguch in Japan, recently took to an ice rink for the first time in four years, and things didn't quite go to plan. Her return to the rink was filmed by her friend Kyoka Tanaka, who is also 16. The video shows the teen fall down immediately upon stepping into the rink, toppling once again when she gets up, followed by almost ten seconds of flailing.

Wisconsin firefighter Matt Poliak proposed to his girlfriend, Grace Johnson, and her 2-year-old daughter, Isla, during the Winter Daze Parade in Menomonie on December 14. Both mother and daughter said yes. The entire heartwarming affair occurred to much fanfare from applauding on-lookers.

The dramatic moment a passenger ferry crashed into a yacht (pictured left) - leaving seven people in hospital - has been captured on camera. Manly ferry collided with a nearby yacht in Sydney Harbour on Saturday afternoon, snapping the mast and damaging the stern on one side. Horrified passengers (man pictured with lacerations right) watched as the yacht was completely submerged under the force of the much bigger ferry, throwing two people overboard and injuring seven others.
