'I have a bad feeling about this': Rian Johnson reveals tradition of signature Star Wars line remains in The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has kept up the tradition of including a signature line associated with the sci-fi franchise.

Each installment in the Star Wars franchise since the 1977 original has included the line, 'I have a bad feeling about this'.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, 44, who also wrote the screenplay, recently told the HuffPost the iconic phrase is in the latest installment.

The rolling droid BB-8 during the early battle against the First Order delivers the line in his beeping language to Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac.

'Hey, happy beeps here, buddy, c'mon,' Poe replied.

The phrase was uttered in 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope when the Millennium Falcon approached the Death Star and Luke Skywalker shared his concerns saying, 'I have a very bad feeling about this'.

Han Solo before the trash compactor started closing in on them also said, 'I got a bad feeling about this'.

The line or a variant of it also has been spoken by Princess Leia, C-3PO, K-2SO, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in other Star Wars stories.

Rian decided for a more oblique delivery of the iconic quote.

'It seemed like a fun character to deliver that line. I think originally I had Poe respond, ''Oh, I got a good feeling about it. Keep your chin up.''

Staying  positive: Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac, originally responded to BB-8 with a more explicit reference to the iconic quote

'And then I made it a little less explicit just to make it more fun,' Rian said.
