Often footballers' Christmas parties are associated with bad fancy dress and falling out of expensive nightclubs in the early hours of the morning.

However Liverpool's do, which took place on Sunday evening, seemed to be a rather more classy affair.

Reds forward Philippe Coutinho documented the event on Instagram, accompanied by various team-mates and his wife Aine.

The dress code for the party was clearly smart, and Brazilian star Coutinho looked particularly dapper in a tight black shirt, braces and trousers.

During the night he snapped many selfies with his team-mates, including fellow countryman Roberto Firmino, and defenders Alberto Moreno, Ragnar Klavan and Jon Flanagan.

Coutinho also organised a group picture with Firmino, Klavan, Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip and their various wives, girlfriends and partners.

Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum also got in the celebratory spirit, posting a clip on social media of the pair singing.

The midfielders sang along with a popular Liverpool fan terrace chant of Wijnaldum's name, with young midfielder Joe Gomez making a cameo appearance.

All the snaps gave Coutinho a chance to show off his startlingly white teeth as he smiled his way through them, the choppers glowing even in the relatively dim light.

For the Reds, there was extra reason to celebrate other than the festive season, as the party came after a 4-0 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Coutinho opened the scoring, while fellow 'Fab Four' members Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino also got on the score sheet.

The result lifted Liverpool back into the Premier League top four, and it looks like it could be a very merry Christmas for all those at Anfield.

It puts them in good stead for the hectic festive fixture schedule, which starts with a trip to Arsenal this Friday night and culminates with an FA Cup third round clash with rivals Liverpool on January 5.
