He completed a stint in rehab in 2013 and later admitted to drinking 'way too much'.

But Zac Efron wouldn't change a thing from his past, telling The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday he is 'very proud' of who he is.

The 30-year-old, who is currently in Sydney promoting The Greatest Showman, admitted he had messed up in the past.

Zac told News Corp that while he had made mistakes, he was content with the choices he has made in the past. 

'I have messed up in the past. I’ve done a lot of things that I look back on and go ''sheesh, are you kidding, what were you thinking?''' He said. 

'It is weird to say because I am also happy that I did all of those things because I am here before you today able to proclaim that this is me and I am very proud of who I am.'

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2014, Zac said he had been drinking 'way too much' and acknowledged his drug use.

'I was drinking a lot, way too much,' he told the publication. 

'It's never one specific thing. I mean, you're in your 20s, single, going through life in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you.' 

The Hairspray star also revealed he was in therapy and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
