'Tried to be a ninja and failed again': Ben Shephard jokes over ankle injury while sporting a HUGE plastic boot on GMB... as Kate Garraway brands him an 'idiot' for falling off a wall

He may have successfully completed the challenging obstacle course on Ninja Warrior.

But his sporting prowess appeared to fail Ben Shephard, as he was seen sporting a huge plastic boot on one foot while presenting Good Morning Britain on Friday.

The TV presenter, 42, revealed he had fallen from a wall while trying to impress his children and had ruptured ligaments in his ankle, but choosing to ignore the pain for several days, he was left with no choice but to seek medical help.

While Ben poked fun at himself 'failing to be a ninja', he seemed to forget about his past success completing the tricky obstacle course contestants are seen battling with on ITV show Ninja Warrior.

Ben hosts the programme with Rochelle Humes and sporting pundit Chris Kamara and was seen giving the course a go himself in a segment filmed for Great Morning Britain two years ago.

Completing it with ease, Ben flaunted his body strength as he swung from hanging ropes, climbed across netting and ran up a wall. Following his triumph, the star couldn't resist ribbing his co-star Kamara, as he said: 'I'm so chuffed you were here to witness that!'

He had left his other co-host Rochelle rather impressed, as she referred to Ben as the show's 'Ninja King', saying: 'He’s modest but he was so good.'

Meanwhile, fans had rushed to Twitter to send Ben their well wishes, telling the Good Morning Britain host that they hope he has a 'speedy recovery'.

They penned: 'Feel for you. I broke my foot over the summer and had to wear a boot. Not a good look; What on earth have you done? Looks.... uncomfortable; Oh dear I hope your leg gets better soon Ben. You'll always be a ninja to me. Love you xxx'
