She looks just like her Gan-Gan! Kate and William share new family portrait on their Christmas card – and little Charlotte is looking more and more like her great-grandmother the Queen

  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a new family photo today
  • The couple are seen posing with Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte
  • Charlotte bears a striking resemblance to her great-grandmother the Queen
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall also released their Christmas card today

She has her mother's dark hair and the same delightfully chubby cheeks as her brother Prince George.

But a new family portrait reveals two-year-old Princess Charlotte bears the most striking resemblance to her great-grandmother the Queen.

The photo, which appears on the Cambridges' Christmas card, shows Charlotte with the same bright smile as the monarch, 91, who is affectionately known as 'Gan-Gan' to her great-grandchildren. The pair also look remarkably similar around the eyes.

The touching image, taken at Kensington Palace earlier this year, shows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dressed in matching blue outfits with George, four, and Charlotte.

Meanwhile the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall also released their Christmas card photo today, opting for one taken to celebrate Camilla's 70th birthday in July.

Make like Kate in icy blue hues this season

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a family photo that features on their 2017 Christmas card and isn't it the cutest?

Naturally, Charlotte and George steal the show, but it's Kate's clothes we're coveting.

Her very smart pencil skirt and matching jacket is a look we've seen before during her solo tour of the Netherlands. It's by Catherine Walker, and we love the wintry pale blue hue. The belted waist and peplum hem are super flattering and we love the retro buttons and collar.

The Chelsea-based designer's pieces were famously worn by Princess Diana, plus Kate and her mother Carole Middleton regularly turn to the label when dressing for big occasions. This custom made outfit isn't available to buy, but click (right) to browse the website.

The Cambridges' photo was shared on the official Kensington Palace Twitter account with the short statement: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photograph of their family. The image features on Their Royal Highnesses' Christmas card this year. The photograph shows The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their two children at Kensington Palace.'

The photo shows Prince William, 35, looking dashing in a suit and light blue tie. Kate, 35, chose a feminine peplum jacket and matching pencil skirt from favourite designer Catherine Walker for the shoot.

A closer look at the image suggests it was taken before Kate announced she was expecting her third child as her figure-hugging look reveals no hint of a baby bump.

Prince George is seen standing in front of his father, who has his hands resting reassuringly on his son's shoulders.

The young prince, who is understood to be quite shy, looks slightly uncertain about being in front of the camera and reaches a hand back to clasp his father's finger.

Princess Charlotte looks rather more sure of herself. Stood in front of her mother, the toddler purses her lips into an adorable smile and rests her hands lightly on the front of her printed floral frock, which she wore previously during the royal tour to Poland.

While George appears to be fidgeting, with one foot raised as if taking a step, Charlotte looks more comfortable and stands with both of her feet firmly on the ground.

Princess Charlotte's nursery is revealed

Princess Charlotte will begin attending an exclusive London nursery from next month, her parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed today.

William and Kate, who is pregnant with her third child, will send the two-year-old to Willcocks Nursery School, located close to their Kensington Palace home.

Charlotte will enjoy pottery and poetry classes at the sought-after nursery, which is rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted and located next to the Royal Albert Hall.

The princess will first be invited with her parents for a short 'stay and play'. Kate and William will then be asked to leave to see if Charlotte is happy to be left alone.

Fees are £9,150 a year for morning sessions and £5,400 for afternoons.

Palace sources said Charlotte would attend the school 'full time' but declined to elaborate on whether that was for either morning or afternoon sessions - or both.

Charlotte is seen wearing a pair of blue Mary Janes while her brother wears black leather loafers with long socks - although one has fallen partway down his ankle.

The image, taken by Getty royal photographer Chris Jackson, was released shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall revealed their Christmas card.

Charles and Camilla are pictured dressed for a private summer party, at the prince's Highgrove home, which marked the duchess's July 17 birthday.

The heir to the throne is wearing a dinner jacket and black tie while his wife is dressed in a dress by Anna Valentine.

Hugo Burnand took the picture of the couple at the party held at the Highgrove estate a few days before Camilla's birthday.

In the Christmas image Camilla is wearing a flower design necklace, described as a private piece, which complements her embroidered ivory dress, while Charles' dinner jacket is by Savile Row bespoke tailors Anderson & Sheppard.

Printed on the outside cover of each Christmas card are the Prince of Wales's feathers and the duchess' cipher, while inside are the words 'Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year' printed on the left-hand side and opposite is the photograph surrounded by a thin red border.
