He's counting down the days until he's home to celebrate his son Bear's first Christmas.

And Liam Payne, 24, certainly seemed to be in high spirits as he stepped out in New York on Friday during a break from his US tour.

Seen in a casual outfit as he walked through the East Village in New York City, the Strip That Down singer sported a long-sleeve 'Fear of God' jersey and had a black shirt visible underneath.

He paired the top with loose-fitting dark tracksuit bottoms as well as black and white trainers.

Determined to keep the monotone look on point, Liam also carried a black leather backpack on his shoulders.

It was only his gold chain necklace and silver watch that offset the singer's black-and-white ensemble.

While he's away, girlfriend Cheryl, 34, is said to be holding back on festive preparations so they can do them as a family upon his return to their Surrey home.

With Liam busy on Y100's Jingle Ball tour, he hasn't been able to help Cheryl put up any decorations.

A local told The Sun: 'Walking past Liam's house, you wouldn't even know it's Christmas.

'There's not a single fairy light in sight, which is the complete opposite of last year.

'Cheryl had recently moved in and he really went to town, covering the house in icicles, reindeer and giant snowmen and soldiers.'

The former One Direction singer had covered his home with fairy lights and other adorable decorations, including a pair of nutcrackers standing guard outside his door.

He also hired a florist to help make his mansion even more of a sight for locals, as he put up elaborate wreaths and even an inflatable snowman.

But now it seems that may not be happening again soon while Cheryl and Bear wait for Liam's return.
