Foundations for a fresh start: Wayne and Coleen Rooney's secluded £20million retreat with an on-site spa in the Cheshire countryside is pictured under construction... after couple reconcile their marriage

They have reconciled their marriage just in time for Christmas - and the arrival of their fourth child.

And now Wayne and Coleen Rooney have set about building the perfect family retreat in the Cheshire countryside, costing an estimated £20million, which will be ready for their fresh start in 2018.

New areal pictures of the 40-acre site show the beginnings of two man-made fishing lakes, an underground garage and a paddock with horse stables.

The vast landscape was pictured during the first UK snowfall last weekend, but shows the construction on the ground floor is well under way.

According to The Mirror, the house will have six bedrooms, big enough to accommodate their fourth arrival this February 2018 as well as their three young sons, Kai, Klay and Kit.

The mega-mansion is also believed to house a spa with a plunge pool, as well as a cinema room on site and an orangery and they will be able to keep up to 15 horses.

MailOnline previously reported that a snooker room, wine cellar and football pitch are also being constructed on the sprawling pile.

The ground floor will be where the huge indoor swimming pool surrounded by a glass pavilion and a hot tub, plunge pool and steam room will be housed.

Guests will be able to opt for 'his' or 'hers' changing rooms, and after a dip they can pop outside to the extensive patio and landscaped gardens.

Upstairs will feature six bedrooms, all with en-suites, with the master bedroom also boasting a dressing room.

The property has two floors as well as a subterranean basement, which is home to the steam room, plunge pool, hot tub, gym, cinema room with ten seats, wine cellar and snooker room with bar.

A representative for Wayne and Coleen Rooney has been contacted by MailOnline for further information.

Plans for the new home were already in place before Wayne's drink-drive conviction threatened to rock their nine-year marriage.

The duo currently live nearby in Cheshire, while Wayne plays for Everton football club, but Coleen confirmed last month that Wayne never left the family home.

Wayne was caught behind the wheel of officer worker Laura Simpson's Volkswagen in September, and she later said that she planned to have sex with the England star if they had not been stopped by police.

He broke his silence on the night in question this weekend, when he told TalkSport: 'Sometimes you make mistakes. I held my hands up. I made a mistake.

'I knew straight away I had made a stupid mistake and I have to move on. It is not nice. I've got children and it is not nice for them to see that and I try to move on and learn from it which I feel I am doing.'

After months of speculation that her marriage was on the rocks, Coleen released a defiant statement via Facebook last month, confirming that they were due to work on it and stay together.

Coleen said: 'It's my decision .... do I love Wayne ... yes I do. If I didn't then I wouldn't be trying to make it work.

'I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don't want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do.

'I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we are as good as can be at this point, I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved-up….I’m just real.'

She added: 'I’m not going to list his good qualities as a person as I don't think he deserves it at this time but one thing is that he is a brilliant dad.

'He's made silly and selfish mistakes, some he's learnt from, some obviously not. However maybe that will change?'
