Delta Goodrem will be pleased! The Voice Australia announces its surprising new coach for 2018... and you'll never guess who it is

Since Seal announced he wouldn't be back for the 2018 season of The Voice Australia, a spinning red chair has been left vacant.

But now, the empty spot has officially been filled, with Channel Nine announcing its newest coach.

On Thursday's Today show, US popstar Joe Jonas was revealed as the latest addition to the popular reality series.

'I couldn't be more excited to be a part of a massive show like The Voice, especially getting to do it all in Australia where the fans are amazing,' Joe told Channel Nine.

While Joe has appeared on the US version as a guest mentor, this is the 28-year-old's first foray into the Australian edition.

'I had a taste of the show in the US this year, so now I have the knowledge to take #TeamJoe all the way in 2018,' the DNCE star added.

'Older than me': He said his favourite part of appearing on the show was 'talking to artists who are even older than me'

No doubt Joe will have no trouble building a rapport with his fellow coaches, particularly the ARIA award-winning Delta Goodrem.

His younger brother Nick once dated the Australian pop princess, with the former couple still on good terms.

Along with Delta, Joe will be joined by Kelly Rowland and Boy George in the famous red spinning chairs.

The announcement finally puts to rest speculation over who had nabbed the coveted gig.

One of the top contenders previously rumoured to be joining the show was Usher, who has starred as a coach on the US version in the past.

However, in October Usher's record company, Sony, denied the singer would be taking part.
