And Rebel Wilson appeared on Lorraine on Wednesday morning to talk about the upcoming film, and her fears if there are no sequels.

The Australian Bridesmaids actress, 37, shared her pride at the film being directed by a woman, labeling it a sign of female empowerment amid the Weinstein furor in Hollywood.

'I love playing my character 'Fat Amy'': Rebel Wilson appeared on Lorraine on Wednesday morning to talk about the upcoming film, and her fears if there are no sequels

Speaking to Lorraine, she revealed that she definitely wants to do more Pitch Perfect films, or even a spin-off.

She said: 'We have so many fans all around the world. When they put out the poster for 'Pitch 3' it said 'Last call, Pitches' and we were like, 'What, are we out of a job?' We want to do four and five!'

Delving into her character, she continued: 'There's many other a capella teams to battle out there, I personally think, and I love playing my character 'Fat Amy'. She's such a fun confident girl and I want to definitely continue to play her more.'

Of whether she could have a spin-off film instead, Rebel said: 'There have been rumours. So we'll see how Pitch Perfect 3 goes for now and then who knows…. If you think about it, why was a random Australian girl in an American university?

'She's a bit mysterious if you think about some of the things 'Fat Amy' says – she's wrestled crocodiles and she's done all these crazy things.'

And opening up about the recent Hollywood scandals, which saw director Harvey Weinstein accused of sexual harassment by several high profile women, she described it as an antidote.

'We have so many fans all around the world. When they put out the poster for 'Pitch 3' it said 'Last call, Pitches' and we were like, 'What, are we out of a job?' We want to do four and five!'

'There's so much going on with the sexual assault and sexual harassment allegations and it's great that this movie, 'Pitch 3', is directed by a female, it stars ten girls in an ensemble from very different backgrounds, it's all about female empowerment,' she said

She added: 'I've been lucky enough this year to not only star in Pitch Perfect 3 but to produce and star in two other studio movies as well. It's really cool, the more women directors, writers and producers out there the better it is for women in the industry'.

Co-star Anna Kendrick admitted during an appearance on The Today Show in The Today Show on Monday morning that if it were up to her 'there would be Pitch Perfect 4, 5, 6 and 7' to keep the franchise running for many years to come.

'I've been lucky enough this year to not only star in Pitch Perfect 3 but to produce and star in two other studio movies as well,' Rebel admitted

'It's really cool, the more women directors, writers and producers out there the better it is for women in the industry', she said of the film

Anna reprises her role as Beca Mitchell in the series that kicked off in 2012 when singing group the Bellas met up at university.
