Seeing double! Rising teen star Sophia Lillis 'could rake in whopping $50,000 to play lookalike Amy Adams' younger self in new crime series Sharp Objects'

Amy Adams plays crime reporter, Camilla Preake, who returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder in the upcoming drama Sharp Objects.

And Sophia Lillis, the rising teenage star who portrays her younger self in the eight-part HBO series, could reportedly earn a whopping $50,000 for the role.

The 43-year-old will be portrayed by 15-year-old Sophia in earlier scenes, a star who made her name as a traumatised pre-teen in this year's horror clown flick It.

Sophia's contract states that she could earn at least $50,000 for the role, according to TMZ.

It is not known how many episodes the teen will be in, but she has signed on for a major recurring role. MailOnline has contacted Sophia's rep for comment.

Sophia first garnered attention as Beverly Marsh, the only girl in a group of youngsters terrorised by the demonic clown Pennywise in the horror film It. 

And with her auburn-hued locks, freckles and perfect teeth, she is no doubt the perfect candidate to play Enchanted star Amy in Sharp Objects.

The show is about a reporter who confronts the psychological demons from her past when she returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder.

The show is written by Marti Noxon, directed by Jean Marc Vallée and is based on the book by Gillian Flynn, who was also the author of Gone Girl.

Chris Messina, from The Mindy Project will play Kansas City Detective Richard Willis.

His investigation stalls until he meets Adams' character, Camille, who is covering the crime for a St. Louis paper.

The lines between their professional and personal relationship are blurred as they try to solve this mystery.

Noxon, who wrote the pilot, will serve as the showrunner and will write episodes along with Flynn.

Her November 21st celebration comes after she confessed on ITV's Good Morning Britain that she will be returning to the role of Giselle when the highly anticipated sequel titled Disenchanted. The film begins shooting some time in 2018.

'They are working on it, it's titled as of now Disenchanted and is set 10 years after [the original] but I don't know all the details, but I look forward to it,' she said on the show.

A couple of weeks later, she spoke to E! News about where the movie is in development. 

'I don't know when it's starting, but we definitely have had conversations,' she said.

'I trust that the team they're putting together is gonna put together something that makes it timely. I think that it's a good time in our world for Disenchanted. I think a little singing and dancing, a little laughing at ourselves is good.'
