Fans were quick to jump to her defense when she was trolled for the size of her modest baby bump, last month.

But pregnant Emma McVey has revealed that even hospital staff were 'shocked' by the size of her baby bump despite her due date approaching.

Writing in her new OK! magazine column this week, Emma revealed her intimate birthing plan as she detailed the decision behind Gaz's exit from the MTV programme Geordie Shore.

The lingerie model revealed the details of a recent baby appointment, saying: 'The staff couldn’t believe how small my bump was compared to the size of the baby.

'They were really shocked. But mainly they just told me he’s growing well and everything’s looking really healthy.'

She went on to discuss her partner's decision to leave the British show as he prepares for parenthood: 'If he had filmed the last Geordie Shore, it would have aired after the baby was born and some people don’t realise when they’re filmed, and it wouldn’t have looked very responsible, out drinking every night.'

Taking inspiration from Sam Faiers reality show The Mummy Diaries, the former girlfriend of Mario Falcone went on to express her pleasure in watching mother-themed reality shows, and hopes to land her own.

Gaz and Emma first began dating in August 2016, but split in May this year - with the brunette claiming he had been unfaithful.

However, the pair patched up their romance in June, with Gaz revealing his lengthy stint filming in Australia had caused the tension between them.

The couple confirmed their pregnancy on their Instagram pages in August, just two months after their reconciliation.

Just before her baby shower last month, Emma was hounded by comments saying that her baby bump was small.

Showing off her growing stomach in a playful Boomerang video, which saw her displaying her bump in fitness leggings and a white cropped T-shirt, Emma wrote to followers: 'Bump has popped ready for the baby shower!'

However, the snap was soon hit by trolls, who criticised the size of her bump, and even questioned where it was.

One wrote: 'Where is the baby x' while another added: 'Am the only1 who dont see the bump?'

Another added more fiercely: 'Popped where? Popped off and onto someone f***ing else!?'

A further fan agreed, adding of her jealousy: 'Why is my food baby bigger this real baby?'

However, Emma's devoted followers were quick to defend her against the haters, and blast the critics for trying to tarnish the excitement of her new arrival.

One wrote angrily: 'Omg people are actually horrible why do u guys find the necessity to comment with something negative!! Emma you look fab enjoy the last few weeks as you will miss it when bubs is here' (sic)

As another said with exasperation: 'Why can't people just leave this women alone this is supposed to a memory that stays with a women forever an everyone is hating on her for what cause she's not fat! Her bump is amazing it's her baby growing inside an Incase people don't get this that baby is health and growing' (sic)

Another unimpressed fan agreed, chiming in: 'She’s petite with a small frame why all the negativity. She looks sensational for being pregnant. No hate appreciate'

Meanwhile other fans simply commented on how 'sensational' she looked so close to her due date, and wished her well during her last few weeks.
