Kimberly Probert, from Worcester, 30, pictured, has been jailed over Christmas after her mother Wendy asked a trial judge to remand her in custody in an effort to help her address her drug problem. She appeared in Worcester Crown Court for sentencing after admitting a string of thefts and attempted thefts. Mrs Probert told Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins that she wanted her daughter to receive treatment for her addiction.

Dashcam footage captured Ashley Merrett ploughing into the cyclist following an altercation on the road in Colchester. The 30-year-old admitted dangerous driving, causing actual bodily harm and common assault at Ipswich Crown Court this week and will be sentenced in February next year. Video shows Merrett braking heavily near the cyclist, who gestures at him. Merrett can then be seen swerving into the cyclist, who was taken to hospital for treatment.

The Duke of Cambridge, 35, was praised by British viewers for being a 'good sport' as he galloped during the show. Social media users quickly commented on the hilarious moment, with many saying they 'couldn't stop laughing'. One wrote: 'Prince William galloping is one of the best things I've ever seen!' Another commented 'Yes! Prince William galloping! Love it!'

But in a note found at the family home and published by the Irish Daily Star, Hawe wrote: 'I am sorry for how I murdered them all but I simply had no other way.' The note, which was addressed to his parents and siblings as well as his wife's mother and sister (inset left), also explained: 'I am sorry for my brutality but I had no other way.' Isaac Itiary, 24, (left) was released from prison yesterday on the eve of his child rape trial after it emerged that his 15-year-old alleged victim routinely posed a 19-year-old. Last Thursday Liam Allan's rape trial collapsed because police failed to disclose damning text messages that showed his lover fantasised about being raped and asked Mr Allan (right with his mother Lorraine) for casual sex after she said she was attacked. Both cases with led by Met Detective Constable Mark Azariah (inset) who is still working at Scotland Yard's sexual offences unit and has not been suspended. Barrister Jerry Hayes asked the judge in Mr Allan's case to end the Croydon Crown Court trial and said that the blunders Mr Itiary's case is proof the problem is widespread. He said: 'If there's an ongoing investigation and you're about to go to trial if I was defence barrister or for that matter prosecution barrister, I would demand in writing a letter for police and the CPS that there's nothing that could undermine the prosecution. He added: '[And if you've already been convicted] They need to look at it again.'

The Constantine family say they have been told to move out of their house in East Ham, London, and give their keys to their neighbours, the Alis, after losing a legal battle over an extension. The two families have been locked in an eight-year row after the Constantines accused the Alis of trespass by building their extension on three inches of the Constantine garden. Now, a court has decided that the Constantines must move out of their home in less than three weeks and hand the seven-bedroom £600,000 home to the Alis to sell to cover their legal fees. The girl's real name was Kamiyah Mobley, and her biological parents had been searching for her for years. Manigo still can't visit Gloria Williams (inset left), the woman who abducted her and raised her into adulthood, in jail because she doesn't have ID - but the pair still talk every few days by phone. Since Williams's arrest, Manigo has grown close with her biological parents, who have separated since her birth, and her 'superhero' stepmother.

A new version of the London Tube map was issued today to mark a year from the opening of the new Elizabeth line. The line will stretch more than 60 miles and stop at 41 stations. There will be 10 new stations built while 31 others will be refurbished. Farringdon (ringed, inset left and right) will be one of the busiest stations in the country when Crossrail opens, connecting with Thameslink and London Underground to provide links with outer London, the home counties, the City, Canary Wharf and three of London's five airport.

There's a growing movement in favour of liquidising the corpse (pictured top left) - instead of burning a huge amount of energy to incinerate us (hardly very green) - there's a process which 'cooks' cadavers in chemicals and water at around 160 degrees Centigrade (bottom left). NEW Shocking footage shows a man jump across a train station platform narrowly avoiding an oncoming train by a split second. The video is believed to have been taken at Stratford station in East London. Social media users have branded the man an 'idiot' for risking his life for internet fame.

Reckless Liam Southeron, 20 crashed into the property in Bolton (left, smoke billows from the car seconds after the crash), while fleeing the police, but miraculously he has his three passengers managed to escape without a scratch. Such was the impact of the crash that part of the wall and gate (right and inset) from a neighbouring home shot through a window and ended up in the middle of victim's living room. Thankfully, both residents were in bed at the time. Despite the horror smash, Southeron walked free after being handed a two-year suspended sentence at Bolton Crown Court.

Stratolaunch used the aircraft's six Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines (bottom) to conduct a low speed taxi test (top right) at the company's facility at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California. Stratolaunch successfully travelled down the runway at 25 knots (28 miles per hour/45km/h). Once low-speed taxi tests have been safely completed, the company will begin the next phase of taxi testing, which will include increased speeds. Once testing has been completed, the aircraft (top left) will be used to launch satellites and other objects into space. This could include a Dream Chaser spaceship, which could act as a mini-shuttle to reach low Earth orbit destinations and return astronauts or payloads to a runway within 24 hours.

All six of the Royal Navy's Type 45 destroyers, which cost around £1billion each, are currently moored in Portsmouth due to a combination of faults, maintenance and shore leave for Christmas. Sources inside the Navy believe this could be the first time Britain is without a major warship overseas in its 500-year history, although a spokesman for the Navy said Britain will be protected by 13 ships and submarines depoloyed abroad over Christmas and the New Year. It has raised concerns over the impact of defence cutbacks, with former senior officers 'distressed and alarmed' at the situation. The festive scene is the latest creation from Hungarian artist Gergely Dudas, better known as Dudolf, who is responsible for a string of viral brainteasers. He became an online sensation when his puzzle of a panda lost among a group of snowmen went viral two years ago.

From Ebenezer Scrooge being scared by the face of Jacob Marley, and Tiny Tim at home with the Cratchit family, they are classic scenes known to many. But this extraordinary footage from the first video recording of the Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol dates back more than a century to 1901. The only version of 'Scrooge, or, Marley's Ghost', held by the British Film Institute, is incomplete but tells enough of the story to make it recognisable. The film, which was originally five minutes, also had impressive effects for the time, including superimposing Marley's face over the door knocker. It did the same with scenes from his youth over a black curtain in Scrooge's bedroom. A TV presenter has been pictured holding up a big cat he killed on a hunt before posting a picture of its sliced organs on social media. Steve Ecklund, from Alberta, Canada had killed the mountain lion in his home state on Sunday and is pictured grinning as its carcass is held to the camera. The co-host of the Canadian hunting show, The EDGE, is well-known for his killing of rams, lions, black bears and lions in Canada and North America and regularly posts updates of himself and his wife, Alison Ecklund, in hunting gear. Steve and Alison are both fiercely defended by an active pro-hunting community online, but in the UK, campaign group Hunt Saboteurs Association have called the sport 'morally reprehensible'.

A converted four-bedroom home that started life as a Dutch shipping barge has gone on the market for £2.5million. The 108ft boat is moored on the Thames at the entrance to Cheyne Walk, known as London's billionaire's row. Ben Williamson, a self-employed plummer and builder, was taking his son to the dentist when he was shocked to discover the East Lindsey District Council in Louth, Lincolnshire, had fined him because his van protruded just 18 inches outside of the bay he had paid to park in. He said that although he accepts his van may have been too long for the space, he wasn't blocking any other vehicles from getting in or out of the car park. He plans on appealing his fine.

NEW Men locked up in German camps during the Second World War would entertain comrades with pantomimes, often rehearsing for months on end and spending weeks making costumes. Cross-dressing was popular in officers' camps and men in drag were 'admired' by their fellow prisoners, who sometimes even felt 'attracted' to them. The German guards even enjoyed the performances and would often sit in the front row to get the best view. Historian Dr Clare Makepeace has poured over the diaries, letters and log books of 75 PoWs to better understand how prisoners coped in confinement, in her new book 'Captives of War: British Prisoners of War in Europe in the Second World War.' She said: 'Female impersonators in theatrical productions might not have enabled these men to fulfil their reproductive duties, but they certainly provided them with a break from their all male existence.'
