Pitch Perfect 3 opens on Friday in what looks set to be the last movie in the franchise about all-girls a capella group, the Bellas.

And Anna Kendrick admitted during an appearance on The Today Show in New York City on Monday morning that if it were up to her 'there would be Pitch Perfect 4, 5, 6 and 7' to keep the franchise running for many years to come.

The acress, 32, said: 'But it's probably good that it's not up to us as we don't have any ideas.'

The star gushed about the musical movie, adding: 'If it is the ending, we want to make it as satisfying as possible.'

Anna looked glamorous in a chic black jumpsuit with a halter neck for her television appearance.

The comedic actress boosted her petite 5ft 2in height with towering platform shoes with stiletto heels.

Anna reprises her role as Beca Mitchell in the series that kicked off in 2012 when singing group the Bellas met up at university.

The final emotional scene of Pitch Perfect 3 shows the Bellas on stage together, which was filmed on the last actual day of shooting 'and that never happens' Anna said.

Naturally, she and her co-stars all looked rather sad, but she revealed director Trish Sie got them to perk up by saying: 'It isn't as though you've just been told you had cancer!'

Pitch Perfect 3 follows the Bellas, who reunite following their win at the world championship for one last singing competition at an overseas USO tour.

However, they face a group who uses both instruments and voices.

Anna recently revealed she rejected the idea that she and her co-stars should wear tighter and sexier clothing in the movie.

'It's funny - whenever we do the wardrobe fittings I feel like we get notes from the top saying they should be tighter and sexier and show more skin,' she told Harper's Bazaar.

'And I'm like, that's not why people are coming to see the movie. They definitely aren't showing up because of our sex appeal.'

'It's nice that audiences are interested in seeing a movie of misfits and girls of different shapes and sizes.'
