She came close to clinching the Glitterball trophy on Saturday night's Strictly Come Dancing final.

But fans believe Alexandra Burke was deliberately hiding new bling on her ring finger on Monday night, after prompting a flurry of engagement speculation.

Alexandra, 29, said she'd spent the 'best day ever' in Paris with her long-term stage manager boyfriend Josh Ginnelly and was seen arriving home with a radiant smile.

'We'll always have Paris,' she wrote in a post on Monday evening, beside a love heart and the words, 'Best day ever'.

A representative for Alexandra Burke has been approached by MailOnline for comment.

One commenter eagerly said: 'Thought you might come back engaged' while others repeatedly flooded her feed with ring emojis.

Alexandra Burke set tongues wagging when she posted a series of cryptic messages to social media following her trip to Paris with her beau Josh Ginnelly.

And whilst we didn't spot anything sparkly on her finger, she did have some rather shiny boots on! Pairing these festive red heels with jeans, an aviator jacket and Louis Vuitton scarf.

Josh whisked girlfriend Alexandra off to the French capital not long after the Strictly finale this weekend, in which she ultimately lost out to underdog Joe McFadden.

Josh and Alexandra are believed to have been together for almost two years after meeting in the world of theatre.

'When I first met him I was kissing two guys a night in Sister Act - because I hope Gorka and I get the chance to dance many, many more [weeks].'

Having known him only in the spotlight, former X Factor winner Alexandra also recently praised her boyfriend for being compassionate about her busy work life.

At the beginning of Alexandra's X Factor fame in 2008, Tracie Brooks claimed the talented star started dating her then-husband Russell, months before their 2007 split.

Noticing her husband had become distant five years into their relationship, she says he first denied there was anyone else.

'It wasn't until after we'd finally split for good that he admitted he'd been seeing someone all along. I was really shocked,' she explained, adding that she 'started seeing pictures of the two of them online'.

However at the time Alexandra denied the reports, saying that she had only got together with Russell after his marriage had broken down.

Holding back the tears after Saturday night's final dance with Gorka, Alexandra said: '[Dancing] has brought so much joy to my life. I am so so happy.

'I really believe my family would be proud, I think my mum would be the proudest mother. To know I continued with her dream and was part of something so great, and something so magical...'
