He's known for going all out with his characters.

The actor showed off his buff body as he shot a scene for the upcoming comic book movie, taking on his new role of a character struggling with his dual identity.

Stepping out into the Atlanta sun, Tom was decked out in a comfy outfit of a grey top and washed denim jeans which fit snugly around his muscular body.

The outfit was completed with a pair of grey and white trainers.

Tom looked like he was completely absorbed in the moment as he filmed the scene in which his character fights the other side of his personality, Venom, over whether he should go to the doctor.

But once the scene had finished he seemed cheerful and quickly broke out of character to give a smile as he stood by a car.

The R-Rated film is a spin-off in the Spider-Man franchise, and is said to be set in the same universe as the much-loved film Spider-Man: Homecoming.

A direct adversary of Spider-Man, Venom becomes the alter-ego of Eddie Brock after he is attacked by symbiotic alien costume which is quickly consumed by Eddie's hatred of the webbed-hero.

It's unclear how Venom's origin story will be presented in this standalone film, but with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer behind the lens it should be interesting to see how he and Tom approach the character.

Earlier this week Tom was seen shooting a fight scene with his co-star Scott Haze who is said to be playing the villain, though his actual character has been kept under wraps.

The pair fought viciously in the roles, and by the end Tom was sprawled on the floor bloody and bruised.

Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate and Reid Scott will also be joining the two actors in the film.

Venom is being released as part of Sony's set of Marvel films, and will be unleashed in cinemas on October 5, 2018.

Tom can currently be seen on TV reprising his role as the Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons in the popular BBC series Peaky Blinders.

Following the exploits of a Birmingham-based criminal organisation in the years after World War I, the show has won rave reviews following its launch in 2014.

But fans have singled out Hardy’s performance during a confrontation with tattooed Italian nemesis Luca Changretta – played by Adrien Brody – and his particularly colourful choice of language.

Appearing to threaten Changretta, the imposing Solomons surprised viewers with his blithe use of the C word while telling the gangster: ‘Right, well, you will have to add another ton onto your bill, for being a c*** mate, alright?’

Leading the charge on Twitter, one viewer raved: 'Once again, Tom Hardy stole the show on #PeakyBlinders. Alfie Solomons is one of the best t.v characters ever. Has me laughing every time he opens his mouth.'

A second wrote: 'Tom Hardy is unreal like. Bloke steals every single scene he is in.'
