Lindsay Lohan is heading back across the Atlantic after spending some rare quality time in the USA for the holidays.

The star, 31 - who is now based in Dubai - made a bold fashion statement while leaving JFK airport in New York on her way to her home in the Middle East on Wednesday.

The actress arrived for the mid-morning flight wearing a faded red hat with RUSSIA written upon it in block letters.

Keeping comfortable for the flight ahead, Lindsay covered her slim legs in form-fitting leggings and over-the-knee boots.

'I love living in New York, but I do love the serenity and peace that I find living in the Middle East because there are no cameras in Dubai and I can actually focus on what I want to do in life,' she explained.

She revealed that living in Dubai lets her control when she wants to be in the spotlight.

'I don't always have to be scrutinized every second. I can have a private life and have a public life, but when I choose to. And I think that's really important,' the star said.
