They will take to the ice live for the first time in the New Year, dancing for viewers votes in a bid to be crowned the new Dancing on Ice champion.

But Stephanie Waring and Jake Quickenden appeared to be struggling to get into shape for the show's upcoming revival, as they could be seen slipping and sliding along the ice in a first look clip.

The stars, who joined this years celebrity lineup, were seen training with their respective partners in the teaser video, with Stephanie taking a slew of falls in hilarious fashion.

As Stephanie is seen waltzing around the rink with partner Sylvain Longchambon, she is heard saying: 'I cant do anything sporty at all.'

The former Hollyoaks star then proceeded to crash into the ice in the clip montage, along with a slew of other stars who were practising ahead of the big debut.

X Factor star Jake appeared to lie on the ice after his spectacular fall, as he practiced with partner Vanessa Bauer for the big debut in January.

Appearing to talk about the slew of bumps and scrapes he had suffered on the ice, the singer said: 'Not only your feet, but your arms, your chest, your bum.'

The celebrity lineup were all seen struggling to get to grips with skating on the ice for the first time, and Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker grinned with glee as she remained upright with the support of partner Daniel Whiston.

Stephanie spoke about her Dancing on Ice adventure so far at the glamorous press launch in London's Natural History Museum on Tuesday, admitting the show was 'daunting' after her first training session.

She said: 'The first day was pretty tough. I thought I'd be better than I was. I fell over once. It's very technical; it's the way you hold yourself, the positioning of your feet.

'Balancing is the hardest thing to do. I thought 'well I can do yoga, I can obviously skate on ice....no Steph you can't!'

Unfortunately Jake was unable to attend the spectacular launch, but had previoulsy admitted he also found the early training sessions tough.

'I’m terrified. I had my first training session yesterday - I was freezing! Ice is cold! But it was amazing, the coaches are unbelievable,' he said in November.

'I just feel so lucky that I’ve been asked to do it. I’m so buzzing, I can’t even explain. It’s my mums favourite...!'

Also seen in the video was Love Island star Kem Cetinay, who could be heard saying: 'I've always wanted to ice skate, I just never could.'

Getting right into the challenging lifts, Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent looked uncomfortable as partner Matej Silecky hauled her into the air, saying 'Put me down!'

Other stars spotted on the ice included Lemar, who was brought in as a last minute replacement to cricketer Monty Panesar, who pulled out of the series after an injury during training.
