'It's sad but they remain supportive of one another': Comic Jack Whitehall and actress Gemma Chan 'secretly SPLIT after six years together'

They have been a regular item on the London celebrity social scene for over half a decade. 

But Jack Whitehall, 29, and Gemma Chan, 35, have called time on their relationship after six years together.

The pair is said to have split in September because of their increasingly hectic schedules.

An insider told The Sun that the couple remain friends despite the break-up, and decided to go their separate ways after finding it more and more difficult to spend time together.

The source said: 'Jack and Gemma secretly pulled the plug on their relationship but remain good friends.

'For the past couple of years they've both been finding it difficult to make proper time for one another and, with their schedules showing no signs of slowing down, have decided to go their separate ways.

'It's sad but they remain supportive of one another.'

MailOnline has contacted reps for the stars for comment.

Jack and Gemma first began dating after meeting on the set of Jack's comedy-drama series Fresh Meat in 2011, and both have gone on to have hugely successful acting careers. 

While Jack is a hugely successful stand-up comedian and stars on the Sky One hit A League of Their Own, he has also starred in Bad Education and Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father. 

Meanwhile Gemma has had roles in Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Sherlock, as well as stunning fans as a synth on drama Humans, which was recently renewed for a third series.

The couple's split also came ahead of Jack's biggest gig to date as the host of the 2018 Brit Awards, taking over from last year's hosts Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis.

Jack has also been prepping an online football series from the same company behind James Corden's Carpool Karaoke, to air in the lead-up to the 2018 World Cup. 

Gemma was reportedly living with Jack in Notting Hill, but sources added that she has now moved back with her parents in Kent.
