Famous for partying and socialising, they were both famously part of the Primrose set during the mid-Nineties.

But it wasn't Sadie Frost, 52, that Kate Moss, 43, found company with on Friday, it was her mother Mary Davidson, 67.

In between puffs on a cigarette, the Croydon native was seen contorting her famous visage in a variety of ways as she chatted away with her glamorous companion during a last-minute Christmas shop in London.

The mother-of-one stepped out in typical effortless style for the excursion, wearing an oatmeal sweater under a fur coat, which she teamed with black skinny jeans and matching boots.

Carrying a large blue leather bag, she accessorised with a pair of gold earrings, while she wore her streaked tresses in a relaxed ponytail.

Sadie's mother displayed her own flair for style in a full-length patterned black dress under an elegant jacket, while her lilac pixie cut added a funky touch to her look.

Kate and Sadie were famously friends in the same north London social set, which featured models, musicians and actors in the mid-to-late Nineties.

In 2008, it was reported that Mary had stepped in for Kate's old nanny, Sadie's sister Jade, who was 21 years old when she quit the job of caring for Lila Grace.

Kate's best friend Sadie reportedly then offered up her mother's services to volunteer in the house at the age of 58.

Kate was recently spotted doting on a new puppy as she stepped out with her boyfriend Count Nikolai von Bismarck, 30, in London.

She beamed with joy as her chivalrous boyfriend held the gate open for her as she left her home and made her way to her black Range Rover.

Her new addition is not the only dog Kate has, as she shares a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross named Archie with her ex-husband Jamie Hince, from whom she split in 2015.

Kate embarked on a romance with German aristocrat Mikolai in late 2015, following her split from The Kills rocker husband Jamie.

They settled their divorce the following year, but reports had surfaced at the time suggesting the couple were locked in a custody battle over the dog, with both wanting ownership.

Kate had previously spoken out about her love for Archie and admitted that becoming a dog owner had changed her style.

She confessed to Daily Star back in 2013: 'I'm more day [wear] now. I've got a dog, he's eight months. So I've got a dog, and the dog's making me more day.

'It's a nightmare. You can't do a dog in a heel. I'm having to rethink everything. You can't walk a dog in a heel. You look ridiculous.'

British model Kate was famously discovered at New York’s JFK airport when she was 14 by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Models management.

At just 17, the model landed her first huge assignment in the industry for Calvin Klein underwear with actor Mark Wahlberg. Speaking to The Telegraph, she recalled how her mum told her she wasn't 'photogenic' before she embarked on her stellar modelling career.

Quipping about how she has gone on to prove her wrong, she enthused: 'And my Mum always said I wasn't photogenic. Well, hello. 'She was like: "Kate, do you really think you can be a model?"'

As well as taking the modelling industry by storm, Kate is the doting mother to her 15-year-old daughter.

The mother-of-one gave birth to Lila Grace in 2002, amid her romance with Dazed & Confused magazine's co-founder Jefferson Hack.

And mother like daughter, Lila secured her first modelling success as the face of the Braid Bar at the tender age of 14.

Kate went onto marry her ex, The Kills guitarist, Jamie in a romantic ceremony in Gloucestershire in 2011, but the couple split four years later. She is now going strong with her new younger beau.
