President Trump kicked off his Christmas Eve at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida by participating in a video conference with American troops stationed around the world. 'I just want to wish everybody a very, very merry Christmas,' the president said. 'We say "Merry Christmas" again, very, very proudly,' Trump added, repeating his position on saying 'Merry Christmas' over 'Happy Holidays.'

From sloppy goulash to rubbery meat, soggy potatoes and the ubiquitous PBJ sandwiches, meals across America's prisons vary in size, taste and appeal. Some institutions, dependent on whether they are state or privately run, change-up their menu for Christmas and Thanksgiving. But in the run-up to the big day, as law-abiding citizens baste and glaze turkeys galore, this is what the nation's felons will be tucking into.

A 17-year-old has been charged in the fatal shooting of Scott Fricker, 48, and his wife, 43-year-old Buckley Kuhn-Fricker (left and center) at their Reston, Virginia, home (right) on Friday. Police in Fairfax County, a Washington suburb, announced Saturday they filed charges against the teen. His name wasn't released because of his age. The Washington Post reported Saturday the suspect had been dating the couple's daughter, but that the family had recently persuaded her to break up with him because he espoused neo-Nazi philosophies.

For the past 20 years, one photographer has had exclusive access to the more than 300 Victoria's Secret angels during their iconic holiday season fashion show. Photographer Russell James has had the privilege of being backstage photographing the world's top models including the likes of Bella Hadid, Miranda Kerr, Kendall Jenner, Gisele, Naomi Campbell and the list goes on. His new book titled, Backstage Secrets: A Decade Behind the Scenes at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, is full to the brim of the 'sexiest' backstage images from his many years working as a photographer at the major event.

Sinead O'Connor has been seen in public for the first time in months (left) when she went for a coffee with the father of her youngest child.  The singer has been keeping a low profile since posting a video on Facebook earlier this year sparking concern over her mental health. She was pictured with ex Frank Bonadio (right) Christmas Eve in Bray, just south of Dublin, where she used to live. It is understood the Nothing Compares 2 U star (inset) was back in the area having returned home to celebrate Christmas.

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein (above) emerged from relative seclusion on Saturday and stopped by a juice bar in Scottsdale, Arizona. Weinstein (inset) is a regular customer at Kaleidoscope Juice, according to TMZ , which obtained photos of the former Weinstein Company boss ordering a healthy drink. Weinstein has been living in Arizona in recent weeks, having checked in to a rehab facility after scores of women came forward to accuse him of a litany of sex crimes, including harassment and rape.

In the 1990s, she was Kate Fischer - Australia's top model, engaged to billionaire James Packer (top right) and living a life of glitz and glamour. But under her new identity of Tziporah Malkah she now lives a drastically different life, surviving off a government payment of just $200 a fortnight. The 44-year-old opened up about her spectacular life story in a candid interview with news.com.au, detailing her biggest regrets. Her remarkable physical transformation was seen when she appeared on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (inset) and recently fronted court (bottom right) on drink-driving charges.

The Canadian billionaire couple whose deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide after their bodies were found hanging from poolside railings (right) were possibly dealing with financial woes.  The bodies of Barry, 75, and Honey Sherman, 70 (left, together) were discovered last week by their realtor after they had recently put their home on the market for $5.4million. The couple was entangled in dozens of lawsuits, a government investigation and mounting financial pressures. The Shermans have donated millions in past years to hospitals and schools but only donated $66,000 in 2016 according to their tax filings. In 2015 The Sherman Family Foundation didn't donate anything.

Hungarian cartoonist Gergely Dudas, better known as Dudolf, has hidden a red Santa hat somewhere in this festive scene - but it is deceptively difficult to find. The artist became an online sensation when his brainteaser featuring a panda and snowmen swept the internet two years ago, and he has kept followers entertained with similarly tricky puzzles ever since.

A picture has emerged of an ageing Abu Hamza cutting a shrunken and pathetic figure without his infamous hooks.  Two years of solitary confinement has taken its toll on the hate preacher, who has launched an appeal claiming his prison conditions are a breach of his human rights.  Despite only being 59, his hair and beard are now completely white and his sturdy frame has morphed into a scrawny shape.  The black and white snap appears to have been taken within the confines of the US Supermax prison in Colorado where he is trying to be moved from. Hamza has had enough of the US prison where he spends 23 hours a day in his cell and would go back to a British one 'in a second'.

The estranged homeless older brother of millionaire pop star Madonna has been taken back in by her family after living on the streets of Michigan for seven years. Anthony Ciccone, 61 (right and inset) who has previously accused his mega famous sister of not caring about him, struggled with alcoholism through the years. However, the Mirror reports, he has recently made strides at a rehab facility, and his brother Christopher Ciccone, 57, says he is now 'back home' and 'recovering.' Before his recent stint in rehab, Anthony was living under a bridge in Michigan (pictured) where Madonna, 59, is from. He spent time in the revolutionary rehabilitation facility, Dann's House, which allows their homeless addict residents to drink as much alcohol as they want.

Don't let Prince Harry see this picture! At least, not if you believe it's bad luck for the groom to catch sight of his bride's wedding dress before the big day. For this exclusive photograph appears to show Meghan Markle picking out the gown she'll wear as she walks down the aisle of St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Taken at the boutique of upmarket designer Emma Victoria Payne (pictured right), it is one of a series of candid shots (pictured centre) snapped around London last week, capturing the brunette catching up with some last-minute Christmas shopping before stopping for a traditional British pint. But all is not quite what it seems.

Guy Vainer, from Slomi in Israel, discovered his wife, Dalit, was expecting twins he had no idea what he was letting himself in for. But rather than be overwhelmed by the chaos, the 31-year-old decided to embrace it and the end result is a rather unusual photo album for his sons, Yanai and Barak, to look back on when they're older. The photographer has set up a series of funny snaps which show his cheeky identical one-year-old twins doing everything from mundane tasks such as helping to give their daddy a shave to more extreme scenarios such as getting tattoos.

The Mistretta family, of Irvine, California, has managed to keep its Christmas tree alive for the last 34 years. Gina and Joe first bought their two-foot potted Scottish pine in Christmas 1983 and decided to not throw it away after it didn't look dead following the holiday season. Throughout the years, the tree has been kept trimmed and watered and is re-potted several times a year, although Joe will always saw the trunk just a bit so its short enough to duck under the living room ceiling. Keeping the tree year in and year out has also turned into a massive conservation measure. According to Cal State Fullerton professor John Bock, the director of the school's Center for Sustainability, the tree has captured nearly 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide - the equivalent to not burning about 1,200 pounds of coal.

Sydneysiders were gifted an early Christmas present on Sunday morning with sunny conditions across the city. People flocked to Bondi Beach as temperatures climbed to above 30C before lunchtime. Beach-goers were seen eating water melon, bathing in the sun and cooling off in the water. But the perfect conditions will be short lived with storms predicted across the city on Sunday afternoon, and continuing on Christmas Day.

A 19-year-old Russian student has been found strangled to death with her body wrapped in clingfilm after responding to an advertisement for a 'governess' with a 'model appearance'. Kristina Prikhodko (pictured left and inset) was missing for two days before her body was discovered in a forest (pictured right) close to Siberia's largest city. The student had been sexually attacked before being strangled to death, say police, who have arrested two men, both aged 28, on suspicion of murder. They warned about men using advertisements to lure young women for sex under false pretences. It is known that Kristina had posted revealing pictures of herself and was this year registered on a site where women can meet 'sugar daddies'. Her naked body was wrapped in clingfilm and put inside a zip-up bag which was found on snow-covered ground dumped close to a reservoir on the River Ob near Novosibirsk city. Two men caught driving a car in which the body was transported were later arrested on suspicion of murder.

Every year, inspired bakers from across the globe usher in the holiday season with spectacularly crafted gingerbread houses. In most cases, these tasty structures are as much fun to look at as they are to eat. That was true back in 2013 when a group of dedicated bakers from Bryant, Texas created the world's largest gingerbread house at 2,520 square-feet, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

A motorcyclist who broke down on a remote road in the Philippines was given a helping hand from a fellow biker.  Instead of leaving his bike on the side of the road and riding pillion, the generous rescuer carried the entire motorcycle on the back of his moped.  A passer-by managed to film the hilarious break down operation and said: 'The man was sitting on his own bike while being carried home. I've never seen this happen before. Only in the Philippines.'

A new discovery has thrown up a sensational possibility: that beneath our reporter's feet in a Turkish church still lies the body of the gift-giving man who was the model for Santa Claus. The ancient Byzantine church sits behind a scruffy shopping square in the Turkish coastal town of Demre, which feels an unlikely place to find one of the great sites of early Christianity. It is thought the saint was born 270 years after Christ's birth in what was then Greek Anatolia. His wealthy parents died when he was young and, inspired by the message of Jesus, he sold all his possessions and distributed cash to the poor.
