Family members of a two-year-old girl who fell down a water well in what seems to be rural India, waited with baited breath for her rescue.

Incredible footage shows how the toddler was pulled out of the bore bell and taken to safety.

The rescue involved a number of men working together to pull the child out of the muddy well as she helplessly sat in the water.

Up to nine men climbed down a slope on the side of the wall, creating a hole to pull the girl out. 

Hundreds of others watched the ordeal, as police officers and fire and disaster officials cleared the way.

The men climbed on all fours and were covered in dry white mud as they moved up and down the well which villages use for water

Onlookers watched with concern, while some filmed the unfortunate incident.

The little girl's face was covered in dried white mud when she was pulled out.

The little soldier didn't seem fazed by the hundreds of crowds and seemed at ease as she was carried to safety.   

The family members of the girl smiled as the doctor checked out the child who seemed happy and unmoved by the ordeal

As the girl was rescued, crowds cheered and clapped while the men climbed back up to flat land. 

She was then taken to hospital to be checked out, but didn't seem to have any serious injuries. 

The only time the brave girl cried was when picked up by the doctor, with her family members standing close by, happy to have the child back.
