She recently shared a throwback snap of herself celebrating Christmas as a child.

And Nicole Richie proved she'd passed on her cherubic genes to her daughter Harlow, nine, as the pair looked staggeringly similar on a stroll with her husband Joel Madden in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Dressed down as the family enjoyed some fresh air during the holiday period, the trio made for an adorable family unit on the day.

Opting for a low-key look, Nicole, 36, donned an oversized grey jumper that she teamed with printed palazzo pants and sandals.

Good Charlotte rocker Joel, 38, also went casual for the outing, teaming a black jumper with shorts and looked every inch the doting daddy as he carried Harlow on his back.

Joel and Nicole are also parents to son Sparrow, eight, but the youngster wasn't seen with the pair on the day.

The couple began dating in 2006 and went on to marry four years later at Nicole's father Lionel Richie's Beverly Hills estate.

Meanwhile, Joel's twin brother Benji is married to Nicole's friend Cameron Diaz with the pair secretly tying the knot in 2015.

While, Joel and Benji have been kept busy releasing songs with Good Charlotte, Nicole is currently starring on the NBC comedy, Great News.

Nicole may have been known for her wild child ways in the past, but she recently told You magazine that her life has changed significantly since having children.

The Simple Life star explained: 'Mornings are wild times in our house. It’s survival mode.'

'It’s like the Olympics: get the kids up, make breakfast, prepare lunches, drive them to school (I volunteer there, so on those days I will stay to read with the class) then go to work'.

She added: 'My kids come first, and then you do what you can fit into the day.'
