It appears to be third time lucky for the couple, as they recently rekindled their romance following two breakups over the years.

And Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp seemed to be stronger than ever, as they cosied up while watching the New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

The youthful You've Got Mail actress, 56, showed off her smooth complexion as she went make-up free and rocked chic glasses while sitting courtside in New York on Christmas Day.

The Sleepless In Seattle star added to her casual vibe with bedhead hair, styling her golden tresses in tousled waves.

Rocking a simple black poloneck sweater, the Hollywood beauty finished off her look with black trousers and biker boots.

As well as her boyfriend, Meg was also joined by her 25-year-old actor son Jack Quaid - who she shares with ex-husband Dennis Quaid. She also has a 12-year-old daughter, Daisy True, who she adopted from China in 2005.

Jack has been making waves in the movie industry just like his parents, appearing in the Hunger Games and Logan Lucky.

Meg and John first got together in 2011 and dated for more than three years before splitting up in the summer of 2014.

But she and the Jack And Diane crooner reunited in October 2014 before splitting early in 2015.

He dated former model Christie Brinkley from September 2015, before they too split in August 2016, paving the way for yet another reunion with Meg in July this year.

Near the end of July, though, a source dished to Page Six that 'They are together. It’s been a few months.' This reunion ended what, according to John, was a period of one-way rancor.

At the beginning of March, John had swung by The Howard Stern Show and insisted: 'Oh, women hate me. I loved Meg Ryan. She hates me to death.'

He'd said he'd attempted to clear the air between them since their final rift, but 'She just doesn’t want anything to do with me. And I don't blame her.'

John had been explaining to Howard and his co-host Robin Quivers that 'women hate me,' musing: 'I think it’s because I’m a child.'

The Indiana native expanded on his self-description: 'I throw fits, I gripe, I complain. I’m moody. Every bad thing that a fella can be, that’s me.'

Before dating Meg, he'd had three marriages: to Priscilla Mellencamp from 1970 to 1981, Victoria Granucci from 1981 to 1989 and Elaine Irwin from 1992 to 2011.

At another point, however, he did share a warm memory of his relationship with Meg, which occurred once each of them were past their peaks of fame.

On public notoriety, 'She said it best. She says: "John, we've both already been to the moon, we don't need to go back."'

For her part, Meg was previously married to Dennis Quaid from 1991 until 2001.
