Rita was rocking sparkly gold eye shadow, hoop earrings and wore her hair pulled back into a tight bun.

Her followers were unimpressed on the whole, saying, 'Wrong on so many levels', 'Looks awful' and 'Omg I hope this isn't permanent?'.

Many of the pop princess' loyal fans were quick to rush to her defence, however, enthusing, 'Babe you looking beautiful' and 'merry christmas rita'.

This comes after Rita opened up about her $2.4 million 2016 lawsuit against her former record label Roc Nation, founded by rap mogul Jay Z.

Speaking to News Corp, the 27-year-old revealed she was left in a 'deep sadness' after feeling 'anger' and 'desperation' over the fight, which she has channeled into her forthcoming album.

'I really wanted to get to the bottom of what people wanted to know, everything with my personal life - it boiled up from the frustration of not being able to put music out for a few years,' she said.

'It was like anger into desperation into sadness and so it has got a lot of emotion in there,' she added while teasing her upcoming album set to be released in March next year.

Rita's confession comes after she found herself in the midst of a $2.4 million six-month legal battle with Roc Nation, after failing to release the required number of albums in her time with the label.

But according to the star, the battle which was settled out of court, was an 'easy separation'.

'My appreciation and respect for them [Roc Nation] hasn't changed at all,' she said of the case to The Sun

'I wanted a fresh start. They understood that! And that's why it was an easy separation.'

'It could have been bad, but it was very respectful. It was one of the easiest separations ever,' added Robert Kardashian's ex-girlfriend.

Having only released one record in 2012, the Fifty Shades actress now signed to Atlantic Records, is gearing up for her sophomore release early next year.

'I'm so excited because I really kind of grew up with my songwriting and with the process of making songs,' said Rita to BW Magazine.
