Mommy's on the TV! Serena Williams shows baby Alexis old videos as she prepares to return to competitive tennis after maternity leave

She was six weeks pregnant when she won the Australian Open in January.

And after taking some time out following the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia, tennis champion Serena Williams is preparing to return to the court.

On Christmas Eve the 36-year-old shared sweet Snapchats of her three-month-old baby girl intently watching her play tennis as they viewed old videos on the TV.

The tiny tot was quite happy in her baby chair and all that could be seen of her in the snap was her dark curly hair and her cute black and white striped bootees adorned with pink frills.

Serena also shared an Instagram snap of herself holding her little cutie with a filter of Christmas ponsetia garlands in their hair

Serena shares Alexis with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, 34, co-founder and executive chairman of social news website Reddit.

The couple tied the knot on November 16 in New Orleans, just 10 weeks after welcoming Alexis to the world.

Their star-studded nuptials included Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Kim Kardashian West among the guests.

Meanwhile, the devoted mom is planning her return to professional tennis, which is maybe why she and Alexis were watching her play.

Serena has not hit a ball competitively since the Australian Open. But she will be back on the court at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

She is due to face off against French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko next Saturday - two of the first women to play in the event.

'I am delighted to be returning to the court in Abu Dhabi for the first time since the birth of my daughter in September,' Serena told the tournament's website.

'The Mubadala World Tennis Championship has long marked the beginning of the men's global tennis season.

'I am excited and honoured to be making my comeback as part of the first women to participate in the event.'
