'With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognising the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.'

Seth, 43, has had previous experience of fronting awards ceremonies - having anchored the ESPYs in 2010 and the Emmys in 2014, four years later.

Previously, the Golden Globes were largely conducted without a host, but comedian Ricky Gervais later took the reins three years in a row between 2010-2012.

In the three years that followed, Mean Girls star Tina Fey and actress Amy Poehler had hosted, before Gervais returned to the helm in 2016.

She had taken to Twitter to thank the Golden Globes for naming her as the latest recipient of the accolade, as she tweeted in response: 'What an honor.'

As well as celebrating the best of Hollywood, the Golden Globes will also be making a statement, as its famous faced guests are planning on wearing black in protest of the sexual harassment that has come to light within the entertainment industry in recent months - following the allegations against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Multiple sources have 'confirmed' to People magazine that many major actresses and actors will be donning dark ensembles in a bid to raise awareness.

An insider claimed: 'All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns.'

They added that the protest could be extended throughout the awards season, with stylist Ilaria Urbanati, who works with Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, Tom Hiddleston and Armie Hammer, suggesting Hollywood's male stars will also be following suit.

She penned online: 'Because everyone keeps asking me... YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year's Golden Globes.

'At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here... just saying...' (sic)
