Children of pharmaceutical company billionaires who were found dead in their Toronto home are 'funding a private probe into their mysterious deaths'

A prominent Toronto lawyer said the family of a billionaire philanthropist couple found dead in their home two weeks ago hired a team of private forensic experts to investigate.
Sherman family representative Brian Greenspan confirmed Thursday that private investigators will provide 'a second lens' to the Toronto police investigation.
Seventy-five-year-old Barry Sherman was the founder of generic drugmaker Apotex.
He and his 70-year-old wife Honey were found dead in their Toronto mansion on December 15.

Tom Klatt, of Klatt Investigations, has worked several related cases, which also includes '70 murder investigations,' according to The Star.
'I've retained Klatt investigations and other experts, and also authorized (Klatt) to retain other experts and investigators with whom he works,' Greenspan told the newspaper.
Also, those with 'whom I've worked over the years to assist in making proper inquiries on behalf of the family and ensuring a comprehensive investigation is conducted.'
Police call the deaths suspicious and say both died of 'ligature neck compression,' but say there were no signs of forced entry.

'Investigators will wait for the results of the post mortem,' Toronto Police Service Constable David Hopkinson told HuffPost Canada.
'They will then determine the course of their investigation and only then will they issue a statement.'

'Sophie and I are saddened by news of the sudden passing of Barry and Honey Sherman,' Trudeau wrote to Twitter.
'Our condolences to their family & friends, and to everyone touched by their vision & spirit.'
The late Barry Sherman founded Toronto-based company in 1974 with only two employees.
He turned the generic drugmaker into a company that now has 11,000 employees worldwide.
