'Eating a 220 calorie lunch will help you lose 10lbs a week': Singer Marie Osmond, 58, shares holiday diet tips after shedding 50lbs

Marie Osmond famously lost 50lbs after competing for the mirror ball trophy on Dancing With The Stars a decade ago.

And now the singer, 58, is sharing her tips for shedding weight after the holidays.

The beauty offered some interesting advice, like how consuming only 220 calories for lunch will lead to losing 10lbs a week.

'Eating a proportioned lunch of 220 calories or less per day will help you lose up to 10 pounds a week,' she told The National Enquirer this week. 'While enjoying a normal breakfast, dinner, snacks and even seasonal treats.'

Normally Americans consume 500 to 600 calories for lunch.

And fast food makes it even worse. A burger, fries and soda is 1,600 calories.

The sister of Donnie Osmond added that her favorite dish for lunch is a 210 calories chicken melt or a 160 calories cheese tortellini.

And the siren adds apples and grapes to help fill her up.

Osmond said she thinks it's exceptionally challenging to stay thin during the holidays.

'At this time of year we're giving so much of ourselves to others,' said the star.

'But we need to take a little time to nurture ourselves. We can induldge in foods that bring us joy. and cut back when we won't even notice.

'That's what I've tried to do and its worked wonders for me.'

In the 1980s Marie made a comeback in country music as a solo artist by signing a joint deal with Capitol Records and Curb Records.

The star has had success in Las Vegas and on tour, but it wasn't until 2007's Dancing With The Stars appearance that she reached a new fan base that helped her sell more books and land a deal with Nutri System.

She then shed 50lbs.

But she has also had her share of trauma. In 2010, Osmond's son Michael killed himself by jumping from level eight of his Los Angeles apartment building.

He reportedly battled depression and addiction and had been in rehabilitation at the age of 12. An autopsy found no drugs in his system

In 2011 she remarried her first husband Stephen Craig.
