Mariah Carey completes 'successful sound check' ahead of repeat live performance on New Year's Rockin' Eve in Times Square

Mariah Carey will no doubt be hoping that the end of 2017 will prove to be much happier than the end of 2016.

The pop diva is doing a replay by agreeing to perform live once again on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve from Times Square in New York.

Twelve months ago, her televised appearance ended in disaster after a myriad of problems left her visibly upset and she stopped singing, despite a pre-recorded track playing in the background.

Meanwhile, TMZ reported Sunday that the hitmaker completed a rehearsal and soundcheck instead of letting a stand-in do it last year.

The website quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the run-through was completed without any issues.

New Year's Rockin' Eve host Ryan Seacrest told People he's glad to welcome Mariah back for round two.

'There are so many different variables that have to work out and, unfortunately, last year it didn’t go as planned,' he said.

'It wasn’t the most obvious idea (to have Mariah back), but it’s great. We can’t do anything else. So we’re happy about that.'
