'Even Cheryl's week didn't stop it losing 1 million viewers!': Sinitta takes a swipe at the singer after being 'snubbed' by pal Simon Cowell for X Factor Judges' Houses role

She warned the Fight For This Love singer to 'stay in her lane' earlier this year, after she was chosen to appear as a guest judge on The X Factor.

And Sinitta took yet another swipe at Cheryl and her best friend Simon Cowell on Monday, by blasting the X Factor's low ratings in 2017.

Speaking to The Sun, the singer, 54, claimed the music mogul does not 'understand' his audience, and added that even Cheryl had been unable to save the series from its worst ever viewing figures - in a thinly-veiled dig at her replacement.

The X Factor pulled in its worst ever ratings in its fourteen-year history in 2017 - with only 5.2 million tuning into the final, compared to rival Strictly Come Dancing's 13.6 million.

Addressing the huge drop in viewers, Sinitta claimed Simon was making too many changes to the show too quickly.

She told the paper: 'If you look at the recent episodes they are very different to the original ones, but he needs to let the team catch up.

'It's unfortunate because a show like that always needs new ideas,' she continued, before taking a swipe at her alleged replacement by adding: 'Even Cheryl's week didn't stop it losing 1 million viewers.'

Sinitta had expressed her disappointment when Cheryl was chosen to help Simon in the Judges' Houses round earlier this year, instead of her.

The So Macho singer, who has helped Simon select his live show acts on five occasions, had warned Cheryl to 'back off' in September, amid rumours she was to join Simon in the South of France.

Taking a tongue-in-cheek swipe at the new mum, Sinitta said: 'You can't look like that, have hair like that, have Liam, have the perfect baby, the perfect body, the perfect face, be a pop star, be drop-dead gorgeous and take Judges' Houses.

'She needs to stay in her lane a little bit. I love you Chez but don't even go there - not that I'm bothered.'

However Sinitta was no doubt left dismayed when Cheryl was chosen for the role, just six months after giving birth to her son Bear.

She lined up alongside Cowell at the judges' houses stage of the ITV series, and helped the mogul choose his three final acts to take through to the live shows at his luxurious villa in the south of France.

Cheryl had gone down a storm with viewers - showing off her post-baby body in a chic crop top, and joking with Simon about the name of her first child with Liam Payne.

Meanwhile Sinitta joined Simon abroad between 2004-2006, and again in 2009 and 2014 - helping him select winners Leona Lewis and Ben Haenow, as well as runner-up Olly Murs.

In 2009, the singer famously arrived in nothing but palm leaves draped across her modesty, as she prepared to judge the acts of that year.
