The defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots are fracturing at the highest level, according to a report that depicts a growing rift between quarterback Tom Brady (lower left), coach Bill Belichick (upper right) and owner Robert Kraft (lower right). The 13-3 Patriots have been struggling with the role of Brady’s personal trainer and business partner, Alex Guerrero (with Brady, left), who Belichick recently barred from the team’s sideline and plane. Also, the Patriots were forced to trade soon-to-be free agent Jimmy Garoppolo –believed by many to be the heir apparent at quarterback in New England – to the San Francisco 49ers as the 40-year old Brady has given no indication he plans on retiring. The Patriots have a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs and will host a divisional-round game on Saturday, January 13.

East Coasters are dealing with a deadly dip in temperatures just a day after a winter storm walloped the region with up to 18 inches of snow. Temperatures across the Northeast will be in the teens, but will feel below zero in most places with wind chill. These dangerously low temperatures are expected to last the weekend. The region will begin to thaw early next week, with temperatures expected to return to the more seasonal 30s and 40s. It comes a day after Winter Storm Grayson swept through the Northeast, closing schools and business and causing massive flooding in coastal Massachusetts. Boston suffered its worst flooding in 40 years on Thursday as the city was hit by Winter Storm Grayson (flooding in Boston pictured on the left, waves crashing over homes in Scituate on the right). Experts say that a reason the flooding was so bad was because the storm hit at high tide. The high tide was also exacerbated by Wednesday's supermoon (center inset). A supermoon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit. Floodwaters could freeze over in this weekends freezing temperatures.

Floridians, more accustomed to hurricanes than this odd white substance, rushed to publish on social media their photos of snow covering their warm-weather flip-flop footwear and outdoor swimming pools. #snowmageddon, they called it on Twitter. Tallahassee, Florida's capital in the far north of the Sunshine State, awoke Wednesday to a dusting of 0.1 inches of snow, the first significant measurement since 1989. With the weather dipping below 40F in parts of southern Florida, it's been cold enough to immobilize green iguanas common in Miami's suburbs (inset).

Gretchen Carlson (left), the new head of the Miss America board of directors, has pledged to modernize the nearly 100-year-old pageant. During an interview Friday morning on ABC's Good Morning America, the former Fox News host hinted she may do away with the swimsuit portion of the competition that she herself competed in and won in 1989 (inset top and right). Carlson, 51, was named chairwoman of the Miss America Organization on Monday, just days after the organization's former CEO, Sam Haskell (inset bottom), resigned. Leaked internal emails made public in a HuffPost report showed Haskell and others demeaning the physical appearance, intellect and personal lives of former pageant winners, including Carlson. She was specifically targeted in correspondence among Haskell and others, in which he wrote of tactics he hoped would drive her insane. Some of the 'potentially big changes' Carlson has in mind include a willingness to reevaluate some of the pageant's restrictions, such as age, marital status and pregnancy.

The author of mega-hit memoir Eat, Pray, Love has announced the death of her partner Rayya Elias from cancer. 'She was my love, my heart, my best friend, my teacher, my rebel, my angel, my protector, my challenger, my partner, my muse, my wizard, my surprise, my gift, my comet, my liberator, my rock star, my completely impossible non-cooperator, my otherworldly visitor, my spiritual portal, and my baby. I loved you so much,' Elizabeth Gilbert wrote on Instagram.

A spokesperson for the 48-year-old confirmed the happy news on Friday but gave away few details about the proposal. Lara met Wall Street financier Rick on a blind date that was arranged by a mutual friend; she divorced ex-husband David Haffenreffer - with whom she has two children - in 2015 after 15 years of marriage. It is not known how or where Rick popped the question, however the couple appear to have rung in the New Year on a ski trip in Colorado.

The explosive new book about President Donald Trump has revealed claims about his 'perplexing' marriage to Melania (pictured together left in 2005 and center on January 1), including that the pair could go days without seeing other - even when they were both at Trump Tower (right) at the same time. Excerpts from Michael Wolff's new book 'Fire and Fury' claim that Trump and his wife spent very little time together and that she often didn't know where he was prior to him becoming President. The book claims Melania also didn't know much about his business empire and that she feigned interest in it. It further claims he had been absent for much of his 12-year-old son Barron's (center) life.

Marketing guru Shaina Walker, of NYC, was gripped by her colleague's drama after six cheesecakes went missing, and so was the Internet as her tweets about who might be the culprit of the cheesecake theft went viral. She ended up solving the mystery when the thief revealed herself to Shaina.

Carl Edward Brewer, 18, (left) is accused of murdering American Airlines pilot Troy Gene Brewer, 60, and his wife Mary Brewer, 64, (together, right) in their house in Crowley, Texas, in November. But the teen's lawyer insists there are 'two sides' to the story, and that Brewers adoptive parents were brutal disciplinarians. Teacher from Deer Creek Elementary School in Crowley, where the teen went to school, told investigators that the defendant was punished at home by being forced to sleep on the concrete floor in the garage.

Danny Rios, 33, and Nicole Carfagna, 32, became husband and wife last month in the backyard of their home in Smithtown, New York, surrounded by their friends and family. The bride suffers from lupus, which can make planning large events such as a wedding especially stressful. She had in the past expressed the wish to throw an engagement party in the backyard and surprise their guests with a wedding, so Danny brought that idea to life—but kept the wedding part a secret for her too. Nicole and Danny had just returned from a trip to Disney World when Danny popped the question. After Nicole accepted his proposal, he informed her that if she wanted to, they could end the day as husband and wife.

Zara (left in Sydney last week) and Mike Tindall are expecting their second child, a spokesman for the couple has announced. Zara's grandmother the Queen and other members of the royal family are said to be 'very pleased to hear the news'. The couple, who are currently on holiday in Australia with three-year-old daughter Mia Grace (right in Sydney on Christmas Eve), previously announced they were expecting a baby in November 2016 but revealed they had suffered a miscarriage just weeks later. One image shows a woman being handed her baby before the umbilical cord was cut (right), while another striking shot shows a newborn being delivered by C-section (left). In one picture, a woman is seen in a birthing pool in the midst of labour, with her husband trying to get her to drink water (inset).

Star Trek: Next Generation actor Jon Paul Steuer (pictured) died on Monday, aged 33. The child star, who soared to fame playing Alexander Rozhenko (right) in the Eighties show, passed away on New Year's Day however the cause of death has not been confirmed, according to reports in Oregon newspaper Willamette Week. After his years of acting as a child star, Jon went on to forge a career as a musician and restaurateur as he bowed out of the spotlight - however tributes poured in for the star from loyal Star Trek fans who remember the star from his stint on the show. His band P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S, with whom he has performed since last year, also shared a message on Facebook reading: ' It is with heavy hearts and saddened minds that we announce the passing of our dear friend and singer Jonny Jewels, AKA Jon Paul Steuer.

Former F1 boss Flavio Briatore, 67, and model Elisabetta Gregoraci, 37, were photographed at a law firm in Milan, Italy just before Christmas, where they are said to have signed divorce papers (left). The couple, who are based in Monaco, have since spent the holidays apart, with Briatore jetting to Kenya with their son Nathan Falco, seven, on Boxing Day(inset). According to Italian media he separation is mutual, and adds that this is evident by the pair arriving and leaving the law firm in the same car on December 23.

Graham Isador, a writer from Canada, has detailed his experience of embarking on a total body transformation in order to 'get abs' in 80 days. Writing about his experience for Vice, he shared how he has struggled with his weight all his life and how an obsession with body transformation videos on YouTube inspired him to overhaul his diet and exercise regime. However, by the end of the experiment he revealed that he was living off 1,300 calories per day and had to take stimulants for energy.

Photographer Danan Wahyu Sumirat travelled deep into Mentawai island, the homeland of the tribe 90 miles from the coast of West Sumatra, to document the lifestyle of its 64,000 inhabitants. The semi-nomadic people still hunt fish and animals with poisoned arrows (picture left) and live in bamboo houses called Umas that they decorate with skulls of their hunted prey. The tribe believes every living object has spirit and worship nature, particularly the river. They think damaging or polluting the water source is a sin. Their days are spent hunting and fishing and these tasks are divided by gender. While hunting is for men, fishing is predominately a woman's chore (pictured bottom right). They use the night to indulge in spirited recreation, losing themselves in a trance-like state as they dance together (pictured top right).

A daredevil jumped off a cliff and plummeted more than 1,300 feet with just a rope to stop his fall, while looking like he didn't have a care in the world. Carlos Munoz fell 1,393.7 feet from the cliff, meaning that he was free-falling through the sky for a full 20 seconds. He jarred to a stop when he reached the end of the rope but seemed completely immune to fear, stony-faced throughout the whole crazy stunt.

Flabbergasted shoppers have posted an array of bizarre and often very inappropriate games, figurines and novelty items that are being sold to raise money for worthy causes. Among the photos, posted on Reddit, are a bondage teddy bear, underwear made for two people, a terrifying looking monkey and a framed picture of Monica Lewinsky with a white substance on her top lip.

Thomas Bonfert, who is also an image editor and film director for Austrian public broadcaster ORF, claims it was the arrow that delivered the fatal blow. Since the discovery, Otzi (pictured) has been examined by multiple teams of scientists, with new discoveries coming to light each time. It quickly became clear for the scientist that Otzi was indeed shot in the pit in which he was later found.

Faithful dog Deta lost her owner in September of last year, and is being looked after by Theresa Morini, the late 86-year-old's daughter. The video shows the little dog sat sadly by the grave of her mistress in Amsterdam, New York State, as she is called by her new owner. Deta eventually moves slowly towards the car, but turns back to sit at the grave when Theresa's back is turned.

A man wearing a Santa hat was captured on film shooting at a car on Christmas Day, but passersby are completely undisturbed by the scene. The shocking attack happened in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco. The man shot at a black car, which sped off as he was firing bullets while standing in the street.

Treading its paws almost silently as it makes sure it will not be noticed, the animal pauses, sees the man turn round and then jumps with frightening speed onto its feet. Luckily for the visitor the glass pane protected him from harm but the tiger's attack made for an unexpectedly scary visit to Chimelong Safari Park in China. After showing no signs of fear as he stood against the pane, with his back to the tiger, the man moved away from the window in a hurry when he saw the jumping tiger. Located in Guangzhou, southern China, the 320-acre safari park is home to around 100 tigers, according to its official website.

This is the moment a teenage girl thought her tongue had been removed after a wisdom teeth operation. The video, shared by the mother of Katelyn Joyce Kelly (pictured), shows the girl in the backseat of the car, telling her mother that her tongue has been cut off and all she has left is a piece of tissue. Katelyn was 13 at the time of the video and is from Kenova in the USA. Her mother (pictured with Katelyn in happier times) said Katelyn was shocked when she saw the video.
