Coronation Street legend Malcolm Hebden, 78, is recovering after 'health scare which saw him struck down with mystery illness and admitted to hospital'

Corrie legend Malcolm Hebden was reportedly taken to hospital after being struck down with a mystery illness.

The 78-year-old, who plays Norris Cole in the hit ITV soap, required treatment by doctors after falling ill, according to The Mirror

The well-loved actor, who has starred in the series for more than 23 years, is said to be recovering following the recent health scare.

No further details about his condition have been revealed. 

Back in 2012, Malcolm suffered another health scare after he fell ill in his dressing room.

Malcolm was reportedly checked over by studio medical staff before being sent to A&E for tests.

According to the Mirror, he was given the all clear and back to filming a few hours later.

The soap star landed the role of Norris back in 1994, when open auditions were held for the busy-body character.    

After leaving the series in 1997 Hebden returned to the show in 1999 and has remained on the show ever since.

And over the two decades, Norris has had his fair share of drama.

Back in 2010, he was held captive by admirer Mary Taylor and last year he was dropped with a paternity bombshell after discovering he could have a secret son in Weatherfield.
