The mission of the Center for Independent Thought is to expand awareness of individual liberty, free market, and peace. CIT works with teachers, scholars, and free-market organizations to develop critical thinking and bring the ideas of liberty to freedom-loving people around the globe.

CIT is the parent organization of Stossel in the Classroom, an educational organization based on the work of John Stossel.  SITC promotes critical thinking in schools by providing teachers materials that encourage student understanding of liberty.
