Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police over a third alleged sexual assault.

The latest accusation against the 58-year-old star relates to an incident in Westminster in 2005.

It has brought the total number of Metropolitan Police investigations involving the American Beauty actor to three.

Scotland Yard said in a statement: 'On 13 December we received an allegation that the man sexually assaulted a man (Victim 3) in 2005 in Westminster.

'Officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating.'

The Metropolitan Police have also investigated two other allegations made against Spacey from 2005 and 2008.

Spacey, who has won two Oscars awards, has been accused of sexual assault by a number of men both in the UK and in the US.

The two-time Oscar-winning actor has been accused of sexual assault by numerous men in the U.S. and England.

He was one of the first Hollywood stars to face accusations in the fallout of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

The actor was dumped by Netflix's House Of Cards and Sir Ridley Scott erased him from his completed film, All The Money In The World, in re-shoots costing millions.

Anthony Rapp, who starred in Star Trek: Discover was the first man to come forward and claimed Spacey assaulted him when he was 14 years old.

It comes after security company boss accused Spacey of racism and claimed the actor refused to shake hands with his predominantly black employees while on the set of House of Cards.

Earl Blue, 51, the head of VIP Protective Services, was hired by Knight Takes King Productions to manage on-set security during season one filming of the Netflix series in 2012.

In relation to the two other alleged incidents, a Met Police spokesman said: 'On 1 November City of London Police referred an allegation of sexual assault to the Metropolitan Police Service.

'It is alleged a man assaulted another man (Victim 1) in 2008 in Lambeth. On 17 November we received allegations that the same man sexually assaulted a man (Victim 2) in 2005 in Lambeth.'
