'I want it!': Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik fans in meltdown as singers are rumored to be collaborating on duet for Aladdin live-action movie

Selena Gomez is rumored to be collaborating with Zayn Malik and the Internet can't handle it.

It seems the singers are possibly getting together to produce a single for the upcoming Aladdin live-action remake. 

The buzz started when a Selena fan account tweeted the rumor and it wasn't long before fans of the stars ran with it.

'It is RUMORED that Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik are featured on a duet for the upcoming Disney movie “Aladdin”. Nothing has been confirmed by either of their teams' the original tweet read.

Neither Selena or Zayn have commented on the rumor. 

The Guy Ritchie-directed movie isn't due out in theaters until May 2019 but filming is already underway.

Last summer, after months of speculation Disney finally revealed the cast for its live-action reboot of Aladdin.

Will Smith, 49, has been confirmed as Genie, along with Naomi Scott, 24, who will portray Princess Jasmine and newcomer Mena Massoud, 26, who has been announced as Aladdin.

Additionally Tunisian-Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari (The Mummy) will take on the role of Jafar and Homeland star Numan Acar will play Jafar's right-hand man Hakim.

It was initially rumored that Peaky Blinders star Tom Hardy was favorite to play the villain.  

British star Naomi is best known for her role in the recent Power Rangers reboot while Egyption-born, Canada-bred Mena is set to star in the upcoming Jack Ryan television series.

It was revealed last year that both Riz Ahmed and Dev Patel are understood to have been considered but Disney was more keen on casting an unknown actor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, over 2000 actors and actresses read for the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine.

It seemed finding a male lead who can act and sing, in his 20s, was difficult especially as the studio needed someone of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent.

The British director is working on bringing Disney's classic 1992 animation back to the big screen along with Sean Bailey, head of motion picture production at Disney.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory writer John August has penned the script for the musical movie, which is believed to be non-linear in its structure, something that is a hallmark of Ritchie's early work such as cult British crime romp Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Following the adventures of the street rat, the story is based on a Middle Eastern folk tale of Aladdin who is granted three wishes by a genie who is captive inside a magic lamp.

The original won two Oscars for the music including Best Music and Original Song for A Whole New World.

Aladdin is one of Disney's most beloved and successful classics earning more than $504 million worldwide and the characters are prominent at the company's theme parks.

It has also been turned into a hit stage show playing at theatres all over the world.
