Got ink? Keith Urban flaunts his bicep tattoos as he poses with a guitar and signs autographs at MusiCares Person of the Year awards in New York

He's known as a down-to-earth country music superstar, who has been at the top of his game since his first platinum record in 2003.

And Keith Urban certainly lived up to his reputation at the MusiCares Person of the Year awards in New York on Thursday as he flashed his tattoos while cutting a casual figure

Attending the event at Radio City Hall, the 50-year-old country music star signed posters and photographs for fans and even posed with a white guitar that he had added his signature to.

The musician put his tribal-like designs on display at the event, which were held two nights prior to the Grammy Awards, wearing a grey short-sleeved T-shirt which showed off his tattooed bicep.

The country crooner complemented the dressed-down look with his trademark straightened hairstyle and faded black jeans.

A black jumper with white symbols emblazoned on it, was slung casually over his shoulder.

Surrounded by country music fans, Nashville-based Keith watched Fleetwood Mac being honoured with the award at the charity foundation gala - which raises money for people in the music industry who have fallen on hard times.

It comes after rumours the handsome musician might venture on to the small screen, appearing on wife Nicole Kidman's series Big Little Lies.

Speaking at the SAG Awards last Sunday, the flame-haired Nicole spoke about the speculation that Keith could be making his acting debut on her show, with the short answer being 'possibly'.

In Big Little Lies, the Oscar-winning star portrays Celeste Wright, a former lawyer turned stay-at-home mother.

The character becomes the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her younger husband Perry, portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard, 41.

In the past, Nicole has talked about Keith being 'disturbed' by the show and was concerned about her when she would return home with real bruises from filming.

Perhaps for this reason, Nicole said she doubted her husband would want to act on the show.

'Any chance I can, I will acknowledge what he does because he really is so kind, and I don't think that having a cameo on one of my projects would interest him, to be honest,' she previously told reporters.

With Nicole co-producing the drama alongside fellow Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, 41, it's believed she would have sway with arranging guest stars or cameos.

Meanwhile, Nicole added: 'I sleep with him. He's my biggest supporter. I'm so fortunate to have such an incredible partner in life.'

In spite of the success of the show, which was renewed for a second season in December, the mother-of-two admitted her country music star husband Keith found Big Little Lies deeply disturbing.

'When he watched Big Little Lies he was disturbed,' she explained. 'He says that when he hears me scream or cry from a certain place in my soul it's almost like it goes straight into him and he has a visceral reaction immediately.'

The actress shares daughters Sunday Rose, nine, and Faith Margaret, seven, with the Blue Ain't Your Colour hit-maker.

The couple met in January 2005 and tied the knot in Sydney, Australia, in June 2006.
