Kentucky school shooting suspect is an editor's son

The alleged Kentucky shooting suspect has been named as the son of a prominent newspaper editor in the town. Gabe Parker (pictured center in a school photo), 15, has been identified as the suspect, according to the Courier-Journal. Sources close to the family confirmed his identity to the paper, and explained that he is the son of the editor of the Marshall County Online, Mary Garrison Minyard. Minyard rushed to the school on Tuesday morning to cover the incident when she realized her son was the primary suspect, the sources explained. House of Horrors pair 'fled Texas when child sought help'

The California house of horrors family left their home in Texas just days after one of the 13 tortured siblings escaped in a failed bid for help, a former neighbor has claimed. David and Louise Turpin had lived in a home in Fort Worth, Texas from around 1999 to 2010 before leaving it suddenly and moving to Murrieta, California, Nellie Baldwin, a former neighbor who later bought the home told The Mercury News. The couple apparently lived in that home for a few years - but trashed it so badly, leaving feces on the walls, a rotting bathroom floor, knocked in doors and trash strewn everywhere, that they had to move into a trailer home on the 36-acre property. And in 2010, the end of roughly six or seven years they lived in the trailer, one of the children allegedly tried to escape and find help. She said one of the daughters 'went walking down the road' but didn't get too far when a neighbor spotted her and took her home. 'All of a sudden they just disappeared,' the 78-year-old said. 'No one ever saw them again.'

The mothers killed by the FLU after nursing their children through it: Experts reveal why the deadly virus is attacking healthy young Americans as the CDC warns the worst is yet to come

For the first time in the CDC's 13 years of flu data, the virus is widespread in every state (pictured). Katherine Acton, 47, (center) Karlie Slaven, 36, (left) and Tanya Harmon, 37, (right) are all mothers-of-two who died this week just days after being diagnosed with the virus, having nursed their own children through the illness. While influenza typically claims the lives of infants and the elderly, this year's aggressive H3N2 strain has struck 18- to 49-year-olds harder than usual. The hardest-hit unusual suspects are baby boomers (aged 50 to 64), but hospitalizations, illnesses and deaths far above average for all age groups for this time of year. Ironically and tragically, the strongest among us may be even more susceptible, since those with a fierce immune response could become more vulnerable to the mysterious and ever-changing virus, according to St Jude Children's infectious disease specialist Dr Richard Webby, who is part of the WHO team that develops each year's flu vaccine.
