Aston Merrygold has become a father for the first time.

The former JLS star's fiancée Sarah Lou Richards gave birth to their baby boy on Tuesday and Aston logged on to his Instagram account to announce the news.

The couple, who waited until the birth to find out the sex, have named the tot Grayson Jax Merrygold and the singer is overjoyed with his new arrival.

Sharing a photo of him cradling baby Grayson wrapped in a white towel, Aston wrote: 'Grayson Jax Merrygold 30/01/2018 @sarahlourichards life is now complete (sic)'

Back in September the Everybody In Love hitmaker used the social media platform to reveal that the couple were expecting their first child together.

The singer previously revealed he is planning to get his 'whole back' tattooed in tribute to his baby.

When asked if he'd get an inking in honour of his child, he told BANG Showbiz: 'Oh definitely. I'm not sure yet, I don't know honestly, I just think being as were going to all over the place anyway as soon as baby's here, so it's probably going to be another spontaneous one, probably with my whole back or something.'

But, he insisted it would be 'creepy' to do something similar for his partner.

The sweet snap saw a thrilled Aston lovingly putting his hand on Sarah's bump as they stood in rose-lined heart.

Sarah, who was casually clad, couldn't wipe the smile from her face as she put her hand on Aston's stomach to show off her sparkler.

The announcement topped off a special year for their romance as back in September they announced their pregnancy, writing on Instagram: 'Could be pink... could be blue... all we know is that we're due.'

The Get Stupid singer shared the same post to Instagram and added a lengthier caption that added: 'On May 29th 2017 we found out that our lives were going to change forever! This secret has been so hard to keep, but I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with everybody that me and my beautiful lady are going to be parents!!!!!!

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Sarah said that Craig made a mistake in giving Aston a four for his performance, which led to the couple being voted off.

Sarah said: 'Sorry, Craig – you kind of deserve it. I think this time you got it wrong!'

Aston also revealed that after he found he had been eliminated he was unsure what to think, but is not moving on to focus on his new arrival.

He said: 'On the evening I was proper gutted. I was trying to work out what I had done wrong. But in this industry you have to have the mentality that when one door closes, you look to see what you can do next.’

'Sarah and the baby are my priority now.'

Ahead of the couples impending arrival, Aston also revealed that it was becoming a Dad that spurred him on to do Strictly, even if it did leave the chance that he might be away from his beau in the later stages of her pregnancy.

Sarah also revealed that neither of them have found out the sex of their little one, saying: 'We just want it to be a surprise.’
