Sarah Jessica Parker describes parenthood as 'painful and exhilarating' and reveals why her 20-year marriage works
Sarah Jessica Parker is famous for playing a carefree single gal on Sex and the City, but her real life is the complete opposite of that.
In an interview with Sophia Amoruso on Girlboss Radio, the 52-year-old actress opened up about being a married mother and said that raising kids is like being an 'old-fashioned secretary.'
The stylish star has three children with husband Matthew Broderick: James, 15, and eight-year-old twin daughters, Tabitha and Loretta.
She does it all: Sarah Jessica Parker opened up about marriage and parenthood on Girlboss Radio and compared the experience to secretary work; she is pictured arriving on the set of Good Morning America earlier in January
Put your best foot forward like SJP in purple pumps
Sarah Jessica Parker is renowned for her style and, without doubt, her shoe collection! Whether she's playing Carrie Bradshaw or simply giving us a glimpse at her off-duty style, you can guarantee that SJP will always be wearing a beautiful pair of heels.
Stepping out earlier today for an appearance on Good Morning America, SJP stunned in a floral skirt, printed shirt, brocade-trim dress coat and a pair of SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker heels.
Named the 'Rampling' heels, these purple pumps looked great against Sarah's dazzling fishnets! Sadly you can't buy them right now (they're sold out!) but you can shop the rest of the SJP shoe collection by clicking the link to your right...

As the Divorce actress talked about parenthood, she discussed the ups and downs that come with it.
She shared: 'You're in a constant state of worrying about your children ... It's very painful and it's exhilarating.
'It's a really interesting way of living in the world. I read books differently, or I look at parents and children on the subway differently.'
The fashionista continued: 'I hear music differently or when I see something, I think, "I wish Tabitha and Loretta were with me now and they could see this." That's the good part.'
Family affair: Parker and her family attended a Broadway after party in New York, 2017; pictured are Tabitha Broderick, left, Marion Loretta Broderick, second to left, James Wilkie Broderick, middle, and the married couple
She further revealed: 'It's not for everybody--there's a lot that's really hard. It's exhausting and you're basically just cleaning up after people all day.
'You're one big, good, old-fashioned secretary.
'All I do is organise peoples' lives and get them here and there and all that. It's what I wanted and with that, though, comes witnessing somebody hopefully develop into a really interesting, decent person who contributes something.'
First day: The Sex and the City actress posted an Instagram photo in late 2017 that highlighted her daughters' first day of school
Can't forget him: The doting mother had to include a snapshot of her son's first day of high school too
The 52-year-old spends a lot of time apart from her 57-year-old spouse because of their work commitments, but she thinks this has made their marriage stronger.
She told Girlboss Radio: 'We have lives that allow us to be away and come back together. His work life takes him here, and mine takes me there. In some ways, I think that that's been enormously beneficial because we have so much to share in a way ...
'Relationships are hard. I always felt that I wanted to invest more. I love him and I think he's brilliant. I'm sure I annoy him. He annoys me sometimes. I'm enormously proud of the person he is.'
The long-haul: Broderick and his wife of 20 years attended the New York City Ballet's 2017 Fall Fashion gala in 2017
Parker previously opened up about her marriage to Broderick in a 2016 interview with Rhapsody Magazine.
She shared: 'I think the beauty of a good marriage is that you’re not feeling this sort of soufflé thing.
'Like, the first months or years are, you know, like the soufflé. The courtship or honeymoon period. The soufflé is still the fancy thing at the restaurant, like, "Would you like … the soufflé?" Nothing is ever going to be like that again. But marriage isn’t really about that. It’s about feeling invested in someone in a way that you never expected.'
